On a recent business trip to London I stayed at the Millennium and Copthorne Hotels at Chelsea Football Club. This was not the first time I had stayed there and is a bit of an oasis of calm in London for me. It is situated in a great location just round the corner from the Fulham Broadway tube station which is on the District line and only a couple of stops from Earls Court and the Piccadilly line. The hotel is also just round the corner from Fulham Broadway shopping centre which has plenty of shops, restaurants and a cinema close by.

The Millennium & Copthorne Hotel at Chelsea Football Club is 2 hotels situated in the grounds of Chelsea Football Club pretty much next to each other. The main reception is in the Copthorne Hotel.

The rooms are spacious particularly for London standards. I had in my room a double bed with a 2 seater couch and coffee table as well as a desk and chair, it was like I had a separate seating area where I could sit and watch TV or just relax. There also was a flat screen TV, a large wardrobe(with iron & board inside) and a full length mirror (I never understand why a full length mirror is not compulsory for hotel rooms but more often than not I find it is a missing feature, which can be very annoying).

The rooms also has tea and coffee making facilities with a kettle and plenty of sachets of a variety of teas, coffees and hot chocolate, which was replenished daily as well as a nice variety of biscuits. As I said the room is very spacious with plenty of open floor space, additionally the air conditioning works well and the windows actually open, again another rare feature in hotels.

There is a large and nice bathroom with a good shower in the bath, plenty of complimentary toiletries and lots of fresh fluffy white towels as well as a hairdryer. The room is also decorated in a nice and modern way.

The hotel has a good room service menu and a restaurant in situ called the 55 restaurant which is open from 6.30am - 10am (Monday - Saturday) and from 7am - 11am (Sunday & Bank Holidays) and from 6pm - 10pm for dinner. The 55 Bar and Lounges are open from 9am to 1 am every day as well.

There are some car parking spaces on the premises but are on a first come first served basis.

There is no gym in the hotels but you can use the facilities of the Chelsea Club at a charge of £25 per day - I thought this was an extortionate price, fortunately I had checked it out before so took my trainers and ran outside instead of using the gym and pool. Also downstairs next to the hotel is 2 other restaurants Frankie's, which is run in partnership between Frankie Dettori and Marco Pierre White and is an Italian style sports bar restaurant. I have tried here a couple of times for convenience and don't rate it that highly would be better getting room service or popping out to one of the local restaurants. The other restaurant on site is a fine dining one by Marco Pierre White, I haven't eaten here so can't comment but the menu did look nice if that was the kind of thing you were looking for.

I would thoroughly recommend these hotels, they are in a great location and are spacious and nicely situated on average they are quite reasonably priced at around the £70 - £90 mark per night which for London and this type of hotel is excellent, watch out as sometimes you can get them a bit cheaper if they have an offer on. I am not sure what it is like at the weekend when Chelsea is playing as I have never experienced it, but if you were going to the game you couldn't get any better.

Next time I'm in London for business or pleasure I will certainly be staying here.
