Advantages: Cheap, well thought out rooms

Disadvantages: No windows

I stayed in this hotel in Birmingham a few months ago and thought it was far superior to the pod style EasyJet hotel that I stayed in a year ago.

The Nite Nite hotel is located just behind the big Mailbox complex in Birmingham, so it is about a 5 minute walk from Birmingham New Street train station. There are directions on the website and they are very clear and accurate.

When I entered reception I got a pleasant surprise as the hotel is bright and airy. I was checked in quickly and went up to my room. I found it hard to work my key (but I am not the best with keys for some reason!) but another guest was passing by and showed me how to work it.

And then into my room. Yes, they are tiny but they are really well done up, and only cost £50 for the night. There are no windows but the big flat screen TV was on and it shows views of Birmingham (from a camera). However, if you are claustrophobic I wouldn't advise staying here.

Included in the room are:

*Climate control (found it hard to get my head around this)
*Full size double bed & it was very comfy
*Control panel with mood lighting
*42" Plasma TV
*Ensuite wet room

There are no hairdryers or ironing boards in the room, but they can be requested from reception. I thought the ensuite wet room was quite spacious and very funky looking.

There is also free WIFI in all of the hotel and guest PC's dotted around the hotel. There is a bar and a restaurant also, although the restaurant wasn't open when I was there and I imagine it is a great addition. It isn't too much of a problem though, as the mailbox has plenty of places to choose from and also has a Tesco Metro. There is a special on at the moment for January and rooms cost from £29.95, which is amazing value.

Nite Nite are planning on opening hotels in London, Manchester, Bristol, New York, Berlin and Frankfurt. I for one, will definitely be looking forward to the London one.

I think this is a great hotel for 1-2 nights and I think you could squeeze 2 people in, as long as you get on pretty well!
