Advantages: Modern, clean, quirky
Disadvantages: No natural light
We stopped at this hotel for 1 night while attending a friend's wedding reception in the city centre. We found the location really good, 15 min walk to the shops (Bullring/city centre - The Mailbox was slightly nearer) and 2 mins walk to broad street bars. Nice walk along the canal to the NIA. Free parking outside the hotel from 6pm saturday and all day sunday too - saved us a fortune!
The first thing you will notice about the rooms is that they are very small, you are prepared for this following the description on their website (http://www.nitenite.com), but you don't realise how small until you open the door! The room is the size of the double bed - you cannot walk round it, you have a 2 foot walk way where you walk in with a door to the bathroom (wetroom) opposite the bed and a mirror and stool in front of you.
However we thought this hotel concept was brilliant. All you need for overnight stay is a bed and a bathroom, the wet room worked much better than other wet rooms as the water drained away very well.
The bed was comfy and the tv really good - it is a 42in tv at the end of the bed. All the usual channels as well as a roof top camera streaming to the tv - nitenite rooms do not have any windows and therefore no natural light, this didn't bother us but I can see how it may bother some people. It was wierd waking up and seeing it was 9.30am but it was pitch black! I'd recommend setting an alarm as there's no natural light to wake you up!
There is a panal next to the bed for lighting and heating which we thought was really - there were loads of different settings! Now due to the size of the room obviously there is not a lot of space, especially for luggage! The bed is a standard double bed size and we as a couple didn't have a problem with space, however we were only there one night, I wouldn't want to stay for a week!
We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, we walked to wetherspoons/lloyds on broad street as it was cheaper!
I would recommend this hotel and didn't find it claustrophic, if you are at all claustrophobic I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all!!
I would definitely use this hotel again, however would only use it for 1 or 2 nights, I think if you were stopping longer and had more luggage space may become a problem!
Summary: Excellent city centre hotel, good value for money
