Nobu (London) Reviews

Newest Review: ... to find that it was packed and the entrance was not very impressive, it's low ceiling feels suffocating more than anything. Initial impression from hostess wasn't great. I understand it was Sat night and it is busy but still, there wasn't any smile or anything. They just squeeze us into the bar which is just right next to the reception. Very tiny, chaotic and open plan. After 10 mins, we got seated for our table which is again squeezed into and I'm a size 8! Marilyn Manson was sitting right next to us, which is a bit off putting and scary seeing his face so up closed. We ordered our food, menu was quite familiar to me as it is very s... more

Went to Nobu for our enagement dinner and also stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel, so we were gurantee a table for the night. After reading so many reviews about it and how impressed the celebs seems to be with this place, I was looking forward to this treat. Arrived resturarant on time, only to find that it was packed and the entrance was not very impressive, it's low ceiling feels suffocating more than anything. Nobu has to be the worst sushi restaurant I have ever been to. The tuna was off, the beef tasted of bad armpit and the service was dealt by an eatern european that couldn't understand english. What's more the meal cost over £200 for 2 people. I have had sushi all over the world - Sydney - Japan - L.A. - London and have never had a worse meal, I actually felt like throwing up as I left... Nobu you suck!!! Can I give it 0 ... Read the complete review

Despite bags of hype and countless breathlessly glowing reviews, Matsuhisa Nobuyuki’s remarkable restaurant still consistently delivers the goods. Take Japanese-slanted dishes and give them imaginative South American twists and you have a quite unique and quite brilliant dining experience. For the full blowout, fork out for the ‘omakase’ set meal and allow the chef to make all the hard decisions for you. Located within the ultra-chic Metropolitan Hotel, you’ll feel like you’re somebody eating at Nobu, even without the knowledge that Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts chowed down here in Notting Hill. Very expensive, but worth it. Read the complete review

A good friend of mine was coming over form the US, and as a kind of celebration we decided to dine somewhere special. We booked a table for 6 at Nobu, and as it was my first visit I had no idea what to expect. All I knew, was that Nobu was an upmarket Sushi restaurant to the stars, good enough for me, a chance to see someone famous eating was all I needed to know. On the big night we got a cab to the restaurant, and it's just as well we did as we might not have had an easy time finding it otherwise. Nobu is situated above the famous Met Bar at the Metropolitan Hotel at Park Lane, London W1. As we walked in I noticed straight away the ... Read the complete review

This restaurant is located in the Metropolitan Hotel on Old Park Lane and boasts a menu of Japanese/South American fusion food that is unequalled anywhere in the world (apart from the other three branches in New York and Las Vegas). It tries hard to be cool: the minimalist decor that is a feature of almost every new restaurant in London, the views over Hyde Park, the celebrity clientele, plus the models/waiters in their black Kenzo uniforms who attend to your every need. There is substance to their style however, as one quickly discovers that the unbelievably complicated menu is indecipherable without their help. The best plan is to put away the menu and let ...
