Over rated, over priced place with pretentious crowd (Nobu)

Went to Nobu for our enagement dinner and also stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel, so we were gurantee a table for the night. After reading so many reviews about it and how impressed the celebs seems to be with this place, I was looking forward to this treat. Arrived resturarant on time, only to find that it was packed and the entrance was not very impressive, it's low ceiling feels suffocating more than anything. Initial impression from hostess wasn't great. I understand it was Sat night and it is busy but still, there wasn't any smile or anything. They just squeeze us into the bar which is just right next to the reception. Very tiny, chaotic and open plan. After 10 mins, we got seated for our table which is again squeezed into and I'm a size 8! Marilyn Manson was sitting right next to us, which is a bit off putting and scary seeing his face so up closed.

We ordered our food, menu was quite familiar to me as it is very similar to its sister restaurant I've been before. Food was excellent but extremely small portion even for me, let alone my husband. My husband's dessert was served in an egg cup with a tiny teaspoon which you can finished in 1 sip. The service was very average, we felt we were rushed through it all though. Overall, I think this place is highly over rated and therefore, over priced! The food can easily found it more authentic japanese restaruant at half the price in London. It was good to try for once, but probably not again.

Summary: Go there only if you're loaded, want to people watch and not care about your food or service.
