I stayed over at the Gateway for a meeting in Nottingham during June 2008. My stay was easily one of the worst I have ever had when staying in a hotel for work. While first impressions were ok; lots of trees, a nice "moat" (well watery ponds in front of the building), things started to go down hill quickly when I arrived inside. The lobby area looks cheap and old fashioned, more like an old service station than a comfortable modern hotel. The staff were fine and check in quick, but then the walk to the room. On the 3rd of August, hubbie and I set off for a romantic weekend in Nottingham. I wanted to surprise him for his BIG 40 birthday, so I booked the hotel with Superbreak.com(see my other op). Everything went to schedule and we arrived at 8.30pm, just in time for our evening meal at 9.00pm. On arrival we parked our car in the massive car park, we had no trouble finding a space, it must have held about 500 cars or more. The hotel was called The Nottingham Gateway, it has only recently been built in the last few years.
