I stayed at the hotel for Valentine's weekend and took my boyfriend for a treat. We had a lovely deluxe room and a fantastic meal in Indigo where the service was faultless. It all went horribly wrong the morning after though. We were paying by cash and paid for the room in full in advance plus £100 for extras on arrival. Anyway, we celebrated during the evening with Champagne and ran up a fair bill so we were rudely awakened by a call from concierge at 09.30 saying we couldn't have our breakfast in the room as we requested as we were over our 'credit limit'. They would however be more than happy to send someone up to the room to collect a credit card ...

One of London’s ever-growing band of chic (and pricey) boutique hotels, One Aldwych opened in 1998 in a prime spot close to Covent Garden. The décor is expansive and sleekly modern, but what distinguishes the hotel from its competitors are the 350 contemporary paintings and sculptures which are scattered throughout the building. There’s also a health club and pool, and two excellent restaurants: Axis and Indigo. One Aldwych is an effortlessly stylish place to stay for those who want a little more dash for their cash. ...
