      Great stay, Great location

Every year I go to Scotland around Christmas/ new years time as I always book tickets to see John Barrowman in Pantomime at the SECC . As always I leave it nearly a bit too late and was unable to book tickets for my normal hotel for the whole 5 days... so having to look around on price comparison websites I stumbled across Premier Inn which is a reasonable price considering I usually pay £90 a night in my normal hotel. I ended up paying something like £150 for 4 nights which as you can imagine is actually amazing for a hotel at this time of year. Prices vary on peak times and change daily so I ended up having cheaper nights and normal rate nights. Having booked in just about time in advance for this hotel I got a discount price.

Charing Cross Premier Inn is a tower block building located very close to Charing Cross Railway Station in Glasgow no more than a five minute walk, not even that! It doesn't look very attractive on the outside but on the inside it is something else!

The check- in was easy and even thought we got there a lot earlier than the book in time the staff were nice enough to let us book in, Everyone working in the hotel are very helpful and friendly, They offer stay packs and maps or information at the Reception on the lower ground.

There is either stairs or lifts to choose from to get to the rooms. I'd advise taking the lift as the stairs can be a pain especially if you're quite high up in the building.

Me and my boyfriend had got a double room. We found it to be very spacious, homely looking and bright and airy thanks to the lovely big windows looking out over the city. The bed was a large king size bed with some very comfy pillows, there was a little corner table with a menu and a bedside cabinet on one side of the bed, there was also a table with a drawer (good for working on if needed) along with a reasonably sized flat screen TV (freeview providec) and tea/coffee making facilities. A full length mirror near the door and a powerful hairdryer were also provided.

The bathroom was very spacious as well to go along with the rest of the room, There was a over head shower connected to a rather large bath. They also provided a Large Bath towel each for me and my boyfriend and hand towels. They have on the wall dispensers that are shower gel/shampoo in case you dont bring any,

The hotel room was kept clean every day. The windows were double glazed and a slide along glass screen also included to ensure noise from the nearby motorway and streets cannot be heard when this is closed..

When coming out of the hotel only a short walk from the entrance is actually the huge town center in Glasgow Central, there is also a nice little take away shop that sells decent food for a cheap price which tastes amazing! across the road is also a Tesco and a nice little coffee shop that sells very nice coffee/

I am more than happy to recommend this Premier Inn at Charing Cross to people looking for a comfy and cheap stay! I can safely say that I will be booking my stay again! I've already booked my stay for next year way in advance to get alot more discounts!

An ideally located Premier Inn in Glasgow.

Having booked tickets for a concert at Hampden Park, Glasgow recently, we needed a reasonably priced hotel for two nights. Having looked around online comparing prices, I found this Charing Cross Premier Inn to be the cheapest available at the time of booking. I paid £120 for two nights which was more than I wanted to pay, but everywhere else was more expensive due to the concert. As always, hotels had hiked up their prices for the night of the concert and because of this I was able to secure a room for £45 the first night but then it was £75 the following night which was the night of the concert.
I could have secured a cheaper room had I booked earlier, as when I first looked around online some months previously, the room rate on the night of the concert was showing at £45 but unfortunately I did not have the money to book then, as payment is taken when booking if taking advantage of saver rates and cheaper rates.

Charing Cross Premier Inn is a tower block building located adjacent to Charing Cross Railway Station in Glasgow, which was ideal for me and my partner as we were going to be travelling by train from Newcastle to Glasgow Charing Cross station.
When I read that this hotel was adjacent to the station I must admit I was still expecting a walk to to the hotel after leaving the station, as past experiences have taught me well that sometimes a place is advertised as 'adjacent to' but in actual fact it has been a 5 or 10 minute walk away.
However this time, I was pleasantly surprised to find the entrance to the hotel was only a few steps to the right on leaving the station. It was really lovely to get off the train and be settled in our hotel room a few minutes later, so five stars for location if travelling by train!
There is a car park near the hotel if travelling by car, but this is an NCP car park and charges apply, although a discounted rate is available for hotel guests (£12 per 24hrs) which must be organised at reception.

Check-in was quick and easy and the staff on duty very friendly and helpful. The woman checking us in informed us we had a 'lovely corner room' up on the 11th floor so we would have great views over the city and she was right!. The staff are also very helpful if you need any information and there were street maps available from Reception which came in handy too.
There are three lifts operating from the Reception area up to the floors. There is a bar and restaurant area up on the first floor then all the rooms are on the floors above.

On entering our room, I found it to be very bright and airy due to having two very large windows. There was a large king size bed, with two firm and two soft pillows, open hanging space and a workspace area, along with a flatscreen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. A full length mirror and hairdryer were also provided.
We loved the room with its large windows and the views were quite spectacular. At night when the city was lit up, it really was a great view and that first evening after returning from a meal out, we sat at the window with a drink quite content looking out over the city. Illuminated churches and a cathedral stood out amongst the buildings and city lights.

The only niggle I had with the room was the bathroom. As the room was not the usual square or rectangular shape due to being a corner room, the bathroom was also an odd shape and fairly small. The toilet was located right behind the door which wasn't a problem, it was just different to what you usually find. My only concern was that the bathroom light was actually on the wall and not the ceiling, which would have been fine had it been bright enough, but it was quite dim and as the only source of light in the bathroom it was quite a disappointment. It was bright enough to have a shave my partner informed me, but you would struggle to apply make up and so I used the full length mirror in the room which I found much better. Due to the amount of natural light during the day through the large windows it was easy enough to apply make up in the room instead of the bathroom and there was sufficient lighting in the room also when it got dark. It was only the bathroom where it was lacking.

The shower over the bath was powerful enough and there was always plenty of hot water. A large bath towel and a hand towel is provided per person and shower gel and hand wash are provided via wall dispensers, however, I prefer to take my own.

The hotel room was very clean, as was the bathroom. The windows were double glazed and a slide along glass screen also included to ensure noise from the nearby motorway and streets cannot be heard when this is closed. The hotel itself although full because of the concert, was also very quiet and we experienced no noise or disturbances throughout our stay.

Right opposite the hotel, literally a few steps from the front door is a small bar/restaurant called The Baby Grand which serves meals all day long and was quite good value. The service there was very welcoming and friendly and I would recommend a visit. Next door to this is a coffee shop selling sandwiches etc and so when staying at this hotel you have two places literally on the doorstep to eat as well as the hotel restaurant of course.
Sauchiehall Street with its many bars and restaurants is literally a five minute walk away from the hotel, as is Glasgow's theatreland and the O2 Academy. We had a wander round to Sauchiehall Street the next day to have lunch before heading off to Hampden Park which is a few minutes train ride away or around £9 via taxi.

I am happy to recommend this Premier Inn at Charing Cross and will be looking to book here again in the future as the location is ideal for us. The only problem was the bathroom lighting which I think could be improved, but overall we enjoyed our stay and at rooms starting from just £29 you really can't go wrong.
