Premier Inn (Harrogate)
Advantages: Very nice, welcoming
I do love to stay in Premier Inns. I find that they offer decent quality without being over priced. You know what you're getting with a Premier Inn so when we go on holiday in the UK we do often book a Premier Inn. We have stayed in many over the last few years and this one didn't let us down, it was lovely!!
It was easy enough to book this. We use the online booking system and because we are already members of the site it doesn't take long to do at all as they have our information already saved. The website is really easy to navigate and it's easy to find a hotel that you want. It gives you information in a symbol format as to what each hotel offers so you can see at a glance what it is you need. We paid £60 a night which didn't include breakfast but we didn't mind. As soon as the booking went through we had an email confirmation and the day before we were due to arrive we had a text message sent through too reminding us of our booking number which I thought was very organised of them!
We were pleased with this location. We wanted to stay close to Harrogate and it had to be close enough that we didn't have to pay a lot in taxi fees when having an evening meal. This location was great! We travelled by car and found it easily, it wasn't far from the motorway. It is around a mile from the town centre so we were able to walk in. It was nice to park our car up and not have to worry about finding parking in town. There were enough spaces outside the hotel so we didn't worry about trying to get a space.
We were greeted by a lovely lady behind the desk who had great people skills. I always find this is the case with Premier Inn staff. She greeted my husband and I and engaged us in conversation about our journey and gave us some information about what was near by which was nice. The reception area was quite airy and very clean which is always nice. She directed us to our room and explained about the breakfast situation; we hadn't paid for it but if we wanted to add it in we could do so at any time.
** Our room.
Our room was on the third floor. This was fine as there was a lift. The corridors were wide enough for us to get our suitcase down without feeling as though we were crowded. Our room was lovely and large, it had a large king sized bed which was made up very crisp, it certainly looked clean. There was a large wardrobe area which had several hangers and space for our suitcase to be put. As well as this there was a dressing table, flat screen television, tea making facilities and a few chest of drawers. Although all of this furniture was in the room there was still floor space so we didn't feel over-crowded. The en-suite was only small but perfectly fine with everything we could need and above all it was very clean. We slept very well in this room, the bed was very comfortable indeed and we had extra pillows in the wardrobe if we wanted them. We were not disturbed by any noises outdoors and the temperature was just right.
** The pub.
There is a pub next to the hotel which is where you get your breakfast from. We didn't have breakfast, nor did we eat here in the evening but it looked very nice from what we could see. It was large and looked like it was a family pub with ample parking outside. If you don't want to have breakfast which means you need to go outside first then this isn't a place for you but I think it works well.
** What I thought.
I do have quite a high opinion of The Premier Inn so I do always expect it to be quite good quality. I am never expecting luxury or anything special but this was perfectly fine. It was clean and very welcoming. I really like how you get what you pay for with a Premier Inn. The staff were very friendly, if we ever passed one on our way in or out they would smile and actually look as though they were enjoying doing their work! The night's stay was very comfortable, the bed was a great size which made us feel a bit like we were treating ourselves even if this is seen as a 'budget' hotel. The location was excellent, it was about a 25 minute walk into the centre so maybe not close enough for some but just perfect for us. It was easy to find and located in a lovely part of the country which we enjoyed exploring. If we go to Harrogate again we will definitely be staying here because it's good value, good quality and very welcoming. Well done Premier Inn!
