Advantages: Spacious rooms, excellent value for money
Disadvantages: Beds too high for small children
I recently stayed at the Premier Inn Macclesfield whilst attending a wedding in the local area. I had been due to stay at the hotel where the wedding was being held, however they had no rooms available for families, so I had a quick google to find something nearby and came across this Premier Inn. At £55 for a family room, it seemed a bargain, though I was quite sceptical as to how the standard would be given the low cost of the room for four people.
I used the website to book the hotel, it is very clear and user friendly and you can search by location or go straight to the hotel you require. If your first choice hotel is not available then it will provide you with the other nearest premier hotels to your first choice location and also provides you with their distances from your original choice in miles, which is quite a handy tool. During the booking procedure you also have the option of selecting whether you require breakfast. The cost for this is £7.25 per adult with children eating free per paying adult. At £15 for a hot and cold breakfast buffet for a family of four this also seemed to be a right bargain, so never one to let a deal slip away, I promptly completed the booking process and entered my card details. These are only required to guarantee your booking and no money is actually debited until you check in. In total the room including breakfast cost me £69.50.
We actually arrived at the hotel a couple of hours before the advised check in time, however our room was ready and available so they were happy to let us check in earlier so that we could get ready for the wedding. The check in process was quick and easy and the reception area was of adequate size and clean and tidy. There was a small seating area with newspapers and in addition were a selection of attraction leaflets for places to visit. The staff on reception were nice and polite and they directed us to our room using clear and easy to follow directions.
Our room was located on the ground floor. Due to the price, I was expecting a kind of travelodge style room, however was pleasantly surprised at both the size, quality and cleanliness of the room when we entered. There were two double beds along with a smaller foldaway bed which was placed on the floor. There was room for our travel cot to go in between the two beds meaning that the floor space was not affected. This left plenty of room for the children to play and for us to move around and get ready as we pleased. The furnishings were nice and the beds were very comfortable. I felt that the beds were slightly too high for children and I wouldnt have put my 2 year old in them as it would definitely hurt if you were to roll out. Instead my daughter slept on the low rollaway bed and my son stayed in his travel cot. The bathroom was again a very fair size with a bath tub, shower and room for toiletries by the sink. It was spacious unlike some hotels whose bathrooms are more like a small closet. The room was also quiet which was good as it is located near to a busy main road so I thought that some of the busy traffic noise may be heard, but this was not the case at all. On returning from the wedding we all had a comfortable and pleasant nights sleep and we were all very pleased and impressed.
Adjoining the hotel is a bar and restaurant which is where you go for breakfast. There isnt actually a hot buffet here as we had been led to believe, but instead you order this and it is freshly made for you, so this is in fact better than a buffet where the food could have been sitting there for some time. There is a cold buffet selection which also features a variety of pastries, yoghurts and fresh juice. The food was fantastic and excellent value for money along with prompt and pleasant service. Due to being at the wedding, we did not get to experience the restaurant and bar in the evening, however it looks very nice and clean and the dinner menu appears very appetizing with a nice selection of meals at reasonable prices.
Check out was just as easy as checking in and as you pay on arrival it was just a case of returning the keys to the room. The premier inn also offer a no quibble money back guarantee if you are unhappy with the room, this is probably why they strive to maintain a high standard throughout the hotel. For a budget priced hotel, they offer high quality service and a comfortable stay. I will definitely be using them again in the future and would highly recommend!
Summary: Budget priced hotel, with high quality standards!
