Advantages: Good location

Disadvantages: Overflowing drains and appalling customer service

Last year we stayed at the Quality Hotel in York. I got a good price online and it was in a very convenient location for walking into the town centre and parking in a council car park for a reasonable price.

However the hotel did not live up to its name at all. On first inspection the hotel room was basic and undistinctive but nice enough. There was a big walk in shower in the bathroom which proceeded to overflow flooding the bathroom and soaking into the carpet outside the bathroom door when it was used. We did what we could to soak it up with the towels and went to reception about it. They were dismissive and said that sometimes the drains had problems as too many people used the showers at once, they were unable to offer us a different room, a discount on our stay, and apparently even an apology was a bit beyond them. I complained in writing to the Quality Hotel brand on our return and received no reply.

Based on my experience I would never stay in a Quality Hotel again or recommend it to anyone.

Summary: I would never stay in one again.
