Advantages: Stunning rooms
Disadvantages: Pricey and no restaurant
Quebecs is my favourite hotel in Leeds -and perhaps my favourite hotel of all time.
It is situated bang in the middle of Leeds City centre and it situated very conveniently for the shops, bars and restaurants in the city, and more to the point for my office there. I usually book through Expedia or Laterooms - either will usually give you a £96/night rate which for this hotel is really good value. I have stayed here only on business but I would not hesitate to book for leisure too.
The hotel is a boutique style, victorian townhouse and the decor is inkeeping with the origin of the building. There is a stunning sweeping staircase up from the lobby to the first floor and the whole atmosphere screams quiet luxury. One of my favourite things they do here is print business cards with our name on saying 'In Residence' and your room phone number -how special is that!
The rooms I have stayed in all have huge four poster beds and beautiful bathrooms. There is a DVD player and stereo in each room and an extensive DVD library at the hotel if you ask at reception. At nighttime your bed is turned down for you and water left to your preference next to the bed (still or sparkling mineral water).
The bar in the hotel is an honesty bar where you serve yourself and sign for what you drink. The bar is all plush arm chairs and wood panelling so a fantastically relaxing space after a hard day.
The hotel has no restaurant so you have to head downstairs and outside to a nearby establishment for an evening meal -though to be honest Leeds has so much to offer this is not an issue. Breakfast is available in the morning and is a buffet style with all the cereals and pastries you would expect as well as hot meals served from the menu. As I remember this is extra though and costs around £15 so you may find it better value to head out.
I love Quebecs and would love to stay in another of this small chains hotels. lets hope they have the business cards!
Summary: Wondeful hotel ideally located for Leeds city centre
