Advantages: Good home cooked food
Disadvantages: Only small dining room
The Red Lion is situated on the High Street, which is the main road through the middle of Wooler. The pub has a warm welcoming atmosphere, with very friendly staff. The prices of the drinks are very reasonable and the pub has a television in the bar and also a pool table. Meals are served at the pub at lunchtimes and in the evening, which can be eaten either in the bar or in the separate dining room. The dining room has four tables and seats up to 18 people, which is very nicely laid out. The menu has a choice of about 15 main courses (including vegetarian meals), with an average price of about £5 per meal. These include: Steak, Gammon, Mixed Grill, Pie, Tagliatelle etc. There is also a limited selection of starters and desserts. The meals are ordered, and paid for in advance, at the bar, where they are telephoned through to the kitchen. The service is quick and efficient and the meals are prepared very well. All of the meals come with chips and a side salad and are very good to eat. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, good home cooked meal then I would recommend this pub.
