Advantages: Quality, great food, excellent staff

Disadvantages: Cost

We stopped at Rudding Park as a halfway house from returning from a honeymoon in Scotland. It's one of the only hotels I've seen which has five star reviews on other sites. The hotel is close to Harrogate which is great for all levels of shopping from charity shops upwards (broke after wedding).

We found the hotel parking to be very busy and has to park a way away from the hotel but almost as soon as we entered the hotel help arrived to move our bags from the car and carry them to the room. The staff were extremely polite and very helpful.

We were allocated a ground floor room which had a view of the lawn. The room was in good condition and very clean but as we had paid over £200 for one night I somehow expected more. The rooms are a decent size but I can't comment too much on the layout as we had an extra single bed in the room for my toddler. The adult bed in the room was extremely comfy, cosy and the bedding was high quality.

Wifi was provided free of charge in the room and an access code was easy to obtain from the staff. I believe the room also had a keyboard for a computer. There was also a large TV with a DVD player. There was also a supply of good quality biscuits and sachet drinks which were replaced at somepoint in the afternoon on the day of arrival as we ate all the biccys :). The bathroom had a bath, shower, toilet and lovely fluffy towels and also expensive toiletries.

The public areas of the hotel are very nicely decorated with a luxury feel. It's very open plan with large comfy chairs and sofas. There is also a large open fire place. The hotel sits in large landscaped grounds which are fairly child friendly and full of rabbits.

The breakfast at the hotel was amazing. Good quality food and what a selection! Full english, scrambled egg, kippers, egg benedict and four other hot options which I can't remember. There were also pastries, cereal, yoghurts and fruit. We sat in the conservatory which is amazing with a view of the grounds and a large tree inside.

Good points

Decent sized hotel room with very comfy bed.
Good quality, bedding, towels and smellies
Breakfast filling for even the hungriest person!
Location, location, location......
Quiet
Small child friendly although charged extra £40+ for extra bed in the room which we did not know about until departure
Great staff

Bad points
Expensive but good quality for a special occasion

Summary: Great location and hotel for a special occasion
