Advantages: Can't feel the yacht move in the water as moored tight!

Disadvantages: The view is not entirely brilliant but you don't notice at night!

The Other Half (TOH) and I managed to book this last year for a bargain price for an extended weekend break in London. We got the bed and breakfast booking for a total of four days for £150!

Although it may appear to be a little out of the way, it is right on the Docklands Light Railway with a regular service and also a bus service in case there are railway delays which we did have as there were upgrades to the network when we were there.

Despite the trickiness of getting a couple of trains to get there, this was a superb venue.

I would utterly recommend it for social and business travel as it is right next door to the eXcel conference centre in London.

The rooms are the old cabins (as one would expect) of a yacht and they are gorgeous. They had left the old drinks cabinet in ours so we had a fabulous array of glasses to choose from.

The decor is really soft, each room has a balcony which you can sit out on at night and enjoy a glass of wine.

The bathroom is simple but nicely done - clean, white porcelain all around.

There is more than enough space in the room with a lovely little seating area.

The staff were helpful and there seemed to always be people around if you did need something.

Breakfast was again nice buffet style with a good variety of options and the trays regularly topped up. The only drawback was being greeted by the smell of brass polish as they obviously had to start cleaning the brass very early in the morning to be able to finish it all!

Overall we cannot find fault with this venue except we have not been able to get as such a good deal as we did last year!

UPDATE I have since found out that this original ship has been moved however a new replacement is due later in 2009 - we will be looking out for what hopefully will be opening bargains!

Summary: Great venue - good value, close to transport

We stayed here in 2004; alas our balcony was dockside and the view is not so great :-(
