Tangiers Grange B&B
We recently spent a week in South Wales and booked two nights in tis little B&B so that we could visit Skomar Island for the day as well as visit St Davids and other places around there.
I have to admit we didn't know quite how small this was when we booked; they have only one room for the B&B but they have plans for expansion in the near future. The B&B is not far from the little airport at Haverford West and right on the main A40 road to Fishguard.
"Tangiers is a two hundred year old farmhouse which has been lovingly restored whilst allowing for modern day comforts."
We drove into the parking area and made our way to the front door. I wasn't sure whether we should go in or ring a bell so I tried the door and knocked at the same time. As I entered the owner arrived and welcomed us with a genuinely open smile and took us up to the room. She explained we could use the room downstairs and that is where breakfast would be served. She asked us what time we wanted to have our breakfast and handed us the menu to complete before 9 pm that night. She chatted to us a bit about what we planned on doing while staying there. She suggested where we might find information and the collection of brochures in the room.
She told us to make ourselves at home and indeed we did feel perfectly at home, with the privacy that you usually have with a hotel yet the comfort of a real home.
The room was furnished with quality furniture and a big high very comfortable bed, big comfy pillows and excellent bed linen. It all shouted class and comfort to me. There was a flat screen TV and free wifi with a given password. A hospitality tray with yummy biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate which we made good use of. We were also welcomed with chocs on the bed when we arrived and bottles of water daily. The towels in the ensuite shower room were large, soft and fresh smelling. There were also nice toiletries for our use in the bathroom and a proper good effective hair dryer as well as an iron and board should you need one.
They do say a third person can stay but it would be quite cosy in the room. We didn't need to ask about that so not sure if it would be in the same room.
The room is accessed by stairs so not really suitable for anyone with mobility problems re stairs.
This we ordered from a menu each evening and you could choose from locally produced sausages, bacon and black pudding, free range eggs, cooked tomatoes and buttered mushrooms. Other options include Eggs Benedict with homemade Hollandaise sauce which my husband enjoyed one morning , Slow cooked creamy porridge, Poached or scrambles eggs served on English muffins or crumpets, Boiled eggs and warm croissants.
I did order the croissants one morning but to be truthful I had enough with the basic offerings of yoghurt, cereal, fruit, fruit juice and tea or coffee so on the second morning I ordered nothing and just enjoyed the basic things that were always there.
Sunday -Thursday £70 per room based on two people sharing
Friday and Saturday £75 per room based on two people sharing
Third person £15 extra per night
We booked through an internet site and I gave my credit card details but no money was taken until we were checking out.
The B&B accept debit cards or cash as payment and if you want to cancel then they ask you to do so with 48 hours notice.
You can check in after 3pm on the day of your arrival and check out is by 10am on the day you leave. We arrived a little earlier and there was no problem but we checked out well before 10 am.
No evening meal is offered so you have to be prepared to drive into Haverford West or to the coast if you wish to go further which we did.
Yes indeed, this is a lovely welcoming and comfortable B&B with good breakfasts and a very pleasant room. The owner is delightful, friendly and makes you feel at home. You have privacy and are free to come and go as you want while staying.
Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same user name.
Summary: A really lovely luxurious B&B
