Advantages: The whole place is special everything you need and more in a hotel
Disadvantages: It is expensive to stay
The Crown Spa Hotel is the only 4 star hotel on the Yorkshire coast and when you stay there you certainly know that its 4 star. The hotel is located on the cliff top above the Scarborough Spa Theatre Complex. The front of the building looks great and stands out in the Victorian terraces that it sits in. The large columns and balcony give it a special look.
To get to the town centre and you have to take a short walk along the quiet South Cliff Esplanade and the Spa Pedestrian Bridge.
It has won Yorkshire Moors & Coast Tourism Awards Hotel of the Year for 2007 and 2008.
Also situated in the hotel is the Crown Spa Health Club. This is a private members fitness club that boasts a fully equipped gymnasium with qualified fitness instructors. The Club offers a range of activities and the friendly team can provide inductions to the gym; personal training sessions, lifestyle sessions and classes both in the pool and studio.
To unwind, the relaxation area provides a tranquil atmosphere with the 40ft indoor pool, large Jacuzzi, saunas, steam room and aromatherapy room to indulge in.
When you are staying in the Hotel there is complimentary membership to the Crown Spa Health Club.
Rooms
I stayed there with my young family and we had a room with a large double bed and a sofa double bed. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was all that you expected for a place such as this. The views out of the room over Scarborough front were spectacular. The Heating in the room was very good an often needed turning down as it did get hot. We were staying in early November time so the heating was required. One thing about the room was the television was not up to scratch and I did complain that there were problems with it and it was replaced.
Dining
There is the Taste restaurant for the fine dining and the Taste café bar for the less informal dining. The food in both was really good and I would recommend having something to eat in the hotel during your stay. The surrounding in both dining areas was very comfortable and spacious with a very modern look.
The breakfasts were top notch my kids really loved going for breakfast here they would try everything. It was mainly self services and you could go back as often as you liked. Never did they run out of anything at all and there was plenty to choose from.
Pool & Leisure
There is a small swimming pool were you can go for a leisurely swim, also available are the delights of the large jacuzzi, sauna, sanarium, aroma room, steam room, retreat lounge, and gym. These are all great to use while you are staying in the hotel. They are situated on the ground floor of the hotel. If you have children they are only aloud in the pool at certain times during the day. We used the pool with our children and they loved it the shape and size of it was great for them. The times that they were aloud into the pool were family friendly times too.
Staff
The staff in the hotel was great starting with the reception team that was very friendly and helpful. They even knew about local events that we were interested in and gave us local information about how to get there and were to park.
What more can I say about this place if you are stopping in Scarborough and you want to try something special then get yourself booked into this place.
