Advantages: Great seafront location

Disadvantages: Parking is limited - should be arranged prior (there is however a car-care valetting facility)

Certainly one of the nicer hotels in Torquay - The Grand Hotel is within 2 minutes walking distance from Torquay train station and is situated on the seafront. Short walk from the town and local nightlife hotspots (10 mins) but not too close to be noisy. Perfect hotel location - with many rooms having sea views and others overlooking the park (and the nearby Torre Abbey).

The hotel has an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, sunshower, multi-gym and treatments on offer as well as an outdoor pool with sun loungers, fountain and child's splash pool, which is popular in the summer season. Is very child friendly. There are also tennis courts available.

The food is gorgeous (AA Rosette) - good selection of formal and snack meals. Well stocked bar area overlooking the seafront and swimming pool. Great for watching the gin palaces sail past.

The hotel is also commonly used for local conferences and has very good facilities for this. The staff are very attentive and polite. Watch out for the out of season offers on room prices - can pick up a room for a bargain price (£35 double) and from my experience this is no way reflected in the quality which remains excellent.

Nearby attractions include:
Torre Abbey
English Riviera Centre (swimming pool with flumes and wave machine and sports centre)
Living coasts - coastline sealife centre housing penguins, seals, sea birds
Paignton Zoo
Agatha Christie's home
River Dart Country Park
Brixham (fishing port)

Summary: Beautiful hotel in glorious town
