Advantages: Lovely spot, food and atmosphere

Disadvantages: None

The Mill Inn was converted from an old grain mill in 1992 into a 15 bedroom hotel, set in its own intensive grounds - it was then known as Thurnham Mill. Last year it had a major refurbishment and its name was changed to The Mill Inn.

The Mill Inn is part of the Mitchells chain.
Mitchells of La ncaster Istarted in 1871, William Mitchell signed the lease on his very first pub and brewhouse - The Black Horse Inn, in Lancaster. Now Mitchell's of Lancaster is still family owned and the group consists of sixty pubs and five hotels, covering the city, coast and countryside of North Lancashire and South Cumbria.

The Mill Inn was converted from an old grain mill in 1992 into a superb 15 bedroom well-appointed hotel, set in its own igardens, and has recently undergone a major refurbishment.

The Mill Inn is on the very edge the picturesque Lancaster canal in Conder Green, close to of Glasson Dock - the canal tow path actually runs along the back of the pub.
The Mill Inn is a popular stop for walkers and boat owners, who can pullup outside the pub and moor for the night or a good meal.

Within the grounds of the pub there is a lovely children's play area and large beer garden - both very poplular in the summer.
The pub has facilities for the disabled, as well as a lift with access to all floors. As well as being an excellent pub offering great meals the Mill Inn also has 15 en suite bedrooms, each reflecting the style and character of the original mill.

The food at the Mill Inn is really very good, to prove this they have been recently been awarded the 'Taste Lancashire Quality Assured' award from the Lancashire & Blackpool Tourist Board.
You can enjoy a lovely meal sat in the Lockeepers View restaurant which overlooks the lock on the canal.
The foods on offer are sourced as much as possible locally , from Morecambe Bay Shrimps to Cumbrian Fell Bred Steak. As well as the regular menu there is a special board that changes daily. The food is always wonderful and comes served with excellently cooked fresh vegetables.
Sunday lunches are very popular with the locals as is the Taste of India night which is held on a Tuesday evening from 5.30 pm. On these nights Sanjit Biswas joins the head chef - Harvey Jones - and serves up authentic Indian curries and dishes for £8.95 per person.

Throughout the year the Mill also has cabaret evenings offering dining and entertainment all together.

To find the Mill Inn take tjunction 33 from the M6. At the A6 roundabout turn right towards Lancaster. At traffic lifghts in Galgate (by the Spar) turn left and go under the railway bridge. Take the next left towards Conder Green. Continue along this road over a humped back bridge over the canal. Follow the road for 10189 miles. At the end ofthe lane turn left onto the A588, go over another humped back bridge. Turn left onto Thurnham Mill LAne, take the right onto the car park.

Summary: The perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine .
