Advantages: Posh hotel
Disadvantages: mould, bad service
I was very disappointed with the PostHouse Bristol. We normally just stay in a Travel Inn, and have always been very happy with them, but as a special treat we decided to take advantage of a special offer for a third off weekend breaks at Posthouse. It was still £177 for the 2 of us all inclusive, which is a lot compared to Travel Inns, but I thought it would be worth it as a treat. Well first impressions were good, the hotel is very posh and impressive. In our room though, there was a bit of mould round the bath, the metal windows were dirty with mould, and the underneath of the bath mat was really covered in mould. In all the years we have been staying in Travel Inns we have NEVER had that! The room was disappointing as well. It was very posh, with fridge etc. but very small indeed compared with a travel inn, and nothing like complementary biscuits! Then the service in the resteraunt was absolutely atrocious! We ordered drinks right at the beginning, but I was half way through my main course before I finally recieved mine! And we gave up waiting for a coffee in the end, even though it was included in the price. Then there were lots of little things, like it is the only place I have ever been where you didnt get steak knives with the steak, the plates at the help yourself breakfast were all dirty etc. etc. We were really disappointed, and certainly wont be staying in a Posthouse again!

- 04/05/03 That's a shame. Posthouse have now been bought by Holiday Inn and most will be rebranding. Most hotels do not have comlimentary biscuits anymore and I have always liked Posthouse and Holiday Inn. Useful op.
