The Royal Hotel (Gateshead)Newest Review: ... there were patches on the wall where fixtures had been removed and they hadn't bothered to paint over it. There was a wardrobe and chest of drawers (ANEBODA range from IKEA) and the headboard was badly stained. I stayed in this hotel in March 2008 whilist on a trip with two friends, and we paid £20 a night each for a triple room for three nights. I have thought about this hard, and I am pretty sure that this has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Granted, it was very cheap and you get what you pay for. I just wish we went just a little bit more upmarket. The hotel itself shares a layby with a sign making company in Dunston, which is just near Gateshead. It is easy to catch the bus into Newcastle as there is a stop just outside the hotel. The outside, is a shabby mock-tudor affair which looks run down with plastic signs advertising ...
