The Westerwood Golf and Spa Hotel was to be the destination for the first part of my recent midweek break to Scotland. I have known of the hotel for years, as I used to be based in Glasgow, and indeed a friend got married here. The Westerwood is situated midway between Glasgow and Stirling, and it is also very easy to access the city of Edinburgh itself, all three places offering more to the typical tourist than the images that the "New Town" of Cumbernauld itself conjures up.
