Advantages: Wonderful views and great hosts
Disadvantages: Only two rooms!
I and Mr Pea were going to Padstow for a weekend away for his mother's birthday, unfortunately Mr Pea being as indecisive as he is left booking a bed and breakfast until the last minute, this resulting in a room in a house with shared bathroom facilities which was not ideal and the bed happened to be rock hard! So we only stayed one night! However, as its August and its tourism galore in Padstow trying to get a room anywhere is hard and again because of his indecisiveness we didn't start enquiring about a room until 3pm Saturday afternoon! After being turned down it was inevitable that we were going to go back home to Bristol! However, about 10 minutes after we made the last phone call we received a call from the sister in law to the woman whose B&B we had stayed at Friday night saying she had a room with en-suite for Saturday night! How he manages to land on his feet I do not know!
We were soon given directions and made our way to Tor View Bed and Breakfast (which was the next road up from where we had stayed Friday night!).
*~*~* The B & B *~*~*
Tor View bed and breakfast is situated just outside Padstow harbour. The B & B has wonderful views across the Camel Estuary to the lovely town of Rock and surrounding countryside. Tor View is a lovely white bungalow which is situated on a corner plot so it has a lovely wrap around garden which can be used by guests. There is car parking on the drive, however, due to a wall being at the front of the house its quite difficult to park three cars easily, especially three big cars, but parking on the road is certainly not advisable.
It is clear that the bungalow has been completely renovated inside. You walk into a lovely open bright hall way which immediately on your right you have the two guest rooms and to your left you walk into a further hallway, one door is for the actually owners and their family (which is obviously strictly forbidden to enter by guests) and you come to the staircase. The stairs lead directly into the kitchen which then leads onto the dining area and the lounge which again is painted magnolia which makes the room incredibly large, this is added by the large windows and the views of the harbour. The furniture throughout the house and kitchen is incredibly modern without a lot of clutter, a few table lamps and few select pictures give this place a clean, modern look.
Tor View is a convenient 5-10 minute walk into the town centre where you are surrounded by the shops and restaurants.
*~*~* The Room *~*~*
The B & B offers two en-suite rooms only, one king and one double. We ended up having the double room as it was the only one available. We were at first a bit hesitant after our previous night's stay in another B&B which offered a rock hard bed and a window that didn't really open, oh and sharing a bathroom with all other guests was certainly not appealing!
However, upon entering the room we were greeted with crisp snow white walls, a lovely double bed with a gorgeous black leather (maybe faux) headboard and gorgeously clean white bed linen with grey and black stripes across the top. There were two white bedside tables, again modern with gorgeous black lamps. There were white fitted wardrobes, again completely modern which matched the bedside tables and upon opening the wardrobe was a flat screen TV!
The en-suite was certainly small and compact but was ultra modern with mosaic black, grey and white tiling and the bathroom suite was white ceramic. I must hasten to add it was spotlessly clean which is a big thing for me! A bathroom must be clean to the highest level! One thing to note is that the door was not the easiest to shut and there is no lock (but that's not really a problem!)
We unfortunately did not have the view of the Camel Estuary instead we had part of the garden and the driveway which really didn't bother us at all as we were only using the room as a base!
*~*~* The Owners *~*~*
Unfortunately we did not get the names of the husband and wife team who run the B&B, we only knew them as Carol's sister in law and husband! However, upon our arrival they were only too keen to help us into our room and settle us in, explaining where everything was and asking what time we wanted breakfast! They couldn't have been nicer, the welcome was warm and friendly, they are both genuine down to earth friendly people. Exactly the sort of people who should be running a B&B!
*~*~* Access to the B&B *~*~*
Attached to your room key was also a front door key and basically the front door and porch door are only used by guests so it remains open at all times. There is no curfew on when guests should arrive back and as the owners have there own separate entrance they don't mind the front door being open! However, on our return Saturday night we found that the other guests had actually locked the front door and not only that they had also left a key in the back of the door so we couldn't get in even if we had wanted to! We rather embarrassingly had to ring the doorbell at 1am but fortunately the owner found it quite amusing thankfully and did say that the key should never have been left in the back of the door!
*~*~* Breakfast *~*~*
Now you can't really go wrong with a home cooked breakfast and they certainly do a full English justice here! As soon as you sit down there is a choice of cereals, toasts, preserves and yoghurts together with fresh pots of tea and coffee, oh and not to forget orange juice! Whilst tucking into this, you can smell a great breakfast being cooked next door in the kitchen. You will receive (unless you ask for items to be removed) egg, bacon, sausages, fried bread, tomatoes, mushrooms and a hash brown - a great breakfast to start your day! The full English is served hot and it's all local produce, especially the meat. The dining area is situated next to a window which over looks the harbour, nothing better than eating a great breakfast and looking at that view in the morning! Vegetarians are also catered for - but I'm guessing notice would be needed for this.

*~*~* Overall Opinion *~*~*
I really cannot fault the place at all; the only negative point is that the B&B is at the top of a steep road so for people with walking problems getting to the town centre and harbour on foot is not advisable, the need and use for a car is imperative. That is my only issue I can find with the place! The great thing is that because there are only two rooms it is incredibly quiet and peaceful which makes your stay far more enjoyable than staying in a busy hotel! The house and the rooms are impeccably clean which you can't fault and the owners are warm and welcoming as is the cat Molly!
So would I go back and stay? Certainly and without question a yes! The B&B is so convenient to walk into the town centre, the room we had was great and as I said the owners are lovely. The price we paid was also fantastic considering the previous night we paid similar money for a small room and we had to share a bathroom with other guests! My suggestion would be to book well in advance due to only having two rooms! We will definitely be making a return trip soon!
Summary: FABULOUS!
