Advantages: Cheap, local amenities of which there are loads

Disadvantages: ITS VERY VERY NOISY

I am a bit into reviewing Travelodges at present, due to my horrible experience on Thurs 2nd July - read my review on Travelodge Wembley. Anyway in order not to destroy the view that anyone may hold that Travelodges are awful, I thought I would share my experience of this particular Travelodge.

**LOCATION**
Travelodge Birmingham Central is located on Broadway Plaza/ Broad Street, Birmingham, and is as its title suggest, in the centre of Birmingham.

There is loads to do locally, The Sea Life Centre, National Indoor Arena, Symphony Hall, Thinktank Centre, Bullring Shopping Centre and Jewellery Quarter.

**WHY WAS I STAYING HERE**
When staying here I got the impression it was mainly used by the late night revellers who knew they wouldn't be done drinking by the time the last train departs! And that is exactly why I was here. Well, I tell I lie, I went to see Jimmy Carr live at the Symphony Hall and we had all decided to make a night of it in Birmingham afterwards and booked a Travelodge to 'get our heads' down before driving home the next day.

**MY IMPRESSIONS**
We had booked online about 3-4 weeks in advance at a rate of around £29 if I remember rightly. We headed to the Travelodge the book in and get ready there before heading off to see the performance and checked in at around 5.45 ish. I recall the male reception staff being very polite and it was reallysimply to check in as payment had already been taken online. When we arrived at our room it was clean and well-aired, with no odd smells lurking! There was hanging space for our clothes and a shower, bath and toilet in the small bathroom. We had a quick cuppa while we were getting reading, so I know that there was a kettle and complimetary hot drinks sachets and milk and sugar.

I remember the male reception staff wishing us a good evening at the JImmy Carr gig as we left.

I don't remember an awfully huge amount about when we returned to the room at some 3am! I do know I got crisps from a vending machine in the reception area and we watched some crap on the TV in our room. I didn't sleep well, as I often don't when I am not in my own bed, but mostly because of the noise, mostly caused by the said late night revellers. The bed was quite comfy so that wasn't an issue

There was no iron or hairdryer in our room, but I have come to expect this from Travelodge and always take my own.

**OVERALL**
Overall it was exactly as I expected from a Travelodge; minimal facilities, but the price reflects this. The noise was quite bad; if I hadn't have been one of the ones making the noise half an hour earlier I would probably have been quite upset.

I would stay here again but only as somewhere to rest my drunken head, not if I seriously needed sleep.
