~~~~ Travelodge Leeds/ Bradford Airport ~~~~
A clean, well- presented hotel that provided excellent accommodation for a modest price.
Having been delayed by over an hour I was fed-up, tired and hungry.
I had booked a standard room through the web-site months before-handed thinking it was the hotel nearer to Yeadon.
This Travel lodge is a fairly new establishment to the area and is literally a 5 mins walk from Leeds Bradford airport on Whitehouse Lane, Yeadon. (Post code/Sat Nav: LS19 7TZ for those of you driving)
It has a good sized carpark and is well-presented in its own nicely landscaped grounds. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the building and grounds.
On entering the automatic doors I was aware that I was very early. The booking in time is normally 3pm. However, for an additional cost of £10 you may book in earlier from 12 noon. However, my partner and I had arrived at 11.30 just in the hope we could store our luggage and go in search of food and drink.
The reception area was fairly small but again very clean with a few comfy seats and table to just take 5. There was a selection of snacks ranging from soft drinks, hot drinks, crisps, chocoloate & sweets in a large chilled vending machine - to sandwiches, baguettes, cakes and 'Grab and Go' breakfast in a bag, for those in a hurry being stored in another chilled food cabinet. This although adequate for light snacks would not be sufficent if you were staying in the accommodation for long periods of time.
As I mentioned earlier I had actually thought this lodging establishment was a different one further into Yeadon (that I later found out had changed ownership to Premier Inn !!) Therefore believing it would have a restuarant / bar area!! Oh dear how wrong I was. The food / snacks available in front of me was all the place could offer the hungry traveller who arrived at the door. My heart sank.
We did later try a sandwich each and cake both were very good, fresh and tasty, so we were pleased with this service.
Any way, a pleasant chap appeared infront of us with a cheery smile, asking if he could help. I conjured up a smile and gave him the details of our booking. He then went on to say he couldn't book us in as it wasn't 12 and even then we would have to pay the additional charge. Not a problem we replied, but could we possibly leave our luggage there to save dragging back to the airport, where we knew a restuarant & bar awaited. Guess what the answer was! To cut a long story short, he took pity on us and booked us in early (at an additional charge). Thank you God, friendly, helpful staff who didn't make us feel we were inconviencing them (unlike some-one at the airport!)
~~~~The Room~~~

£52.00 for a family room (non-smoking of course) even though we had left the kids at home,this was the only room available when I had booked. It was very large, well presented and clean. The bed was huge,(King-size) with crisp, white bedding, medium mattress (that was extremely comfy) and medium weight duvet.

The room had a radiator that was on very low, giviing a gentle heat that warmed the room well, without being uncomfortable. There were easy to follow instructions on how to adjust the temp if needed.
I was worried that being so close to the airport it would be very noisy. However, the windows must have been tripled glazed as when pulled closed - silence decended. The curtains were a heavy blue material that acted as a blackout screen when pulled.

The views across the valley was breathtaking. It really reflected the whole feel of the place.

Being a family room there was large sofa bed that was a good quality and pulled out to a large double. Againg bedding available was of the same quality as the king-size.

The room also comprised of bed-side lamps and shelves, a beautiful dressing table with an extra large mirror (wall lamps each side for perfect lighting to ensure us ladies can apply the correct amount of foundation etc!!) and an open walldrobe space, with hangers and shelving.
All the fittings were pine wood that was of good quality and gave a homely touch to the room.

Tea and coffee making facilities were present, but a lack of biscuits.
The TV was positioned on a swivel base that was easy to use and if needed could show Sky at a small cost. Wireless internet was also available at a small charge.

The carpet was soft and clean, unlike some B&B / hotel's flooring that can leave soft feet with friction burns.

~~~~Bathroom~~~~
Wow, spacious, white and bright.
The whole area was tiled in large white tiles, except for the very large mirror above the sink and toilet. Again the basics of soap, glasses, toilet rolls, 4 towels ( 2 hand, 2 bath) and shower points were present.
There was both shower and bath.
The bath was deep and long (hmm, big enough for 2, I wondered!!)
The shower was very easy to use and powerful. What a refreshing change, not haviing to dodge in and out of hot / cold / hot/ cold drips that some places provide.
Overall the room provided the basics needed for overnight stays. The company Travelodge explain clearly their rationale behind not including hairdryers, shampoos, bars etc thus keeping their prices down and it does make sense. Most of us do pack our own extras and grooming equipment.
Although I have said all the basics were supplied, this place did have a feel greater than basic about it. It was clean, comfortable and of good quality. The only disadvantage was we did miss a bar / cafe on site, however the distance to the airport and fabulous little town of Yeadon made up for this short fall.
If travelling to Leeds I would highly recommended this Lodge as a great place to put your head down. Just be warned there's no hot brekkies available and it is great for the airport but a little out of town.
