Advantages: Cheap rates, decent enough basic room
Disadvantages: Very poor customer service, overcharges, will not resolve issues at all.
I am extremely frustrated by the complete lack of customer service displayed by these charlatans. I had booked a room for two nights at their Central Reading branch and was seemingly checked in ok, only to find out the next day that a computer error put my booking through as a "no-show", and I was "only charged for one night", and I had to give my details again to make a separate booking for the second night. All well and done, and the receptionist was apologetic enough.
The stay was rather pleasant, basic room with a bad television reception, but it was good enough to use whilst I had business to attend to.
However, after my stay I checked my bank statement- it turns out that whilst the second booking was charged to my account, so was the first booking - for the full two nights. Which meant I had been charged for three nights' stay when I only stayed for two.
After numerous visits to the Reading reception, I was told I would get a refund within 5 days. 5 days and a phone call later I was told I would get a refund the following monday. Numerous phone calls later when monday had well and truly passed, I get a rude and rather dismissive female voice telling me to email them (at an unknown email address) for the refund. A week and a half after the email I have heard nothing. I complain through their website and have heard nothing after two weeks. It has been a month and a half after my stay and I still haven't received the refund.
Perhaps the reason why their room rates are so low is the theory that they make their money through overcharging disgruntled customers? Definitely one to avoid - there are better hotels in Reading with greater respect for customers for a slight increase in room rate.
Summary: Avoid like the plague unless you want to be ripped off.
