Travelodge in general
Disadvantages: Some hotels could do with upgrading
I have stayed in various Travelodge hotels for a mixture if business and leisure stays, and think they are great for the price. In the last year, I have been to 4 different hotels, and been pleased with most.
Croydon Central- I stayed here alone the night before an exam. The room cost me £39 as I didn't book that far in advance. The location was great for me and it was a decent hotel. The room was large, clean and bright, although the bathroom looked due flr a refit. I ate in the restaurant where the food was a reasonable price but nothing special.
London Kings Cross- I stayed here with my parents after going to a show, it cost us only £19 for a triple room. Beware there are a number of Travelodge hotels in the vicinity, so make sure you go to the correct one, the Royal Scot one looked rather more upmarket than this one! The hotel wasn't the most attractive, and the furniture was rather tired looking, but for £6 each we couldn't complain too much. My main gripe was that the beds were narrower than a standard single which I found pretty uncomfortable at 6 months pregnant!
Manchester Central- stayed with my husband while he was in Manchester for an exam, costing £29. Decent sized room with huge bed, but rather a soggy mattress. Clean and functional, as I have come to expect from Travelodge. Helpful when we requested extra pillows to help me get comfy at 8 months pregnant, although took their time bringing them.
Hatfield Central- most recent stay, en route to Stansted, and first with a baby. Room cost £29 and the newest Travelodge I've stayed in. Again, a large, clean bright room. We only remembered to request a travel cot th day before arriving but one was provided with no problems.
All in all, I think Travelodge rooms are a bargain if you just want somewhere to lay your head. If you book well in advance you can get rooms as cheap as £19. You get what you pay for, no frills but functional. I'm sure I'll be using them again in the future.
Summary: A decent choice for a cheap night's sleep
