Credit Crunch prices in hotels across the UK (Travelodge in general)

Advantages: Cheap & cheerful, handy for city centres, excellent prices if booked in advance

Disadvantages: Basic facilities - breakfast can work out expensive

If you're looking for something cheap & cheerful and convenient for a wekend break or just to call a base - this is the place for you.

Travelodge has a large number of hotels throughtout the UK and the cost of a room can cost you as little as £9 a night (if you manage to obtain one fo the special offers). I would say the average cost of a room is £69.

We have stayed in a number of these hotels in double rooms and family rooms and I can honestly they are great - for a base. The rooms are quite sparce and have just enough towels, tea & coffee for the room occupants - although you can request more if required.

You can also have dinner & breakfast in most of the hotels which is approx £6.95 a head for breakfast - but can work out cheaper if booked in advance online.

We recently had a trip to London and by booking a good few months in advance - managed to secure a family room for £49 a night! It was based just by Euston Station soi very handy for Trains, Tubes & Buses.

We are going to London again just before Xmas and are staying in Covent Garden. I managed to get 2 nights accomodation for a total of £78!

If you are looking for something more upmarket - this is not the place for you - but ideal for these credit crunch timees and still be able to have a break.
