Advantages: a comfortable place to rest over night

Disadvantages: does not include breakfast :-(

When we visited Alton Towers at the summer we decided to stop over as it's a long way to travel from the South West. We booked a Travelodge knowing that we would be able to stay overnight at an affordable hotel. In the past we have stayed at Travelodges in the past and been comfortable so we chose to stay there again. We decided to stop at the Stafford M6 Travelodge.

The check-in was handled well and was quick and efficient. The staff on the check-in desk were polite and well mannered and they had a bit of a giggle about the atrocious weather for August.

The woman showed us up the corridor towards our room, which is unusual as they don't tend to do that. The corridors seemed clean and tidy and although basic we knew we could rest our heads for the night before a fu-packed day the next day.

We got to our room and had a look around it was spacious enough for the two of us and we had complementary tea and coffee. The bathroom had towels and complementary soap. The bed was springy and quite conformable. We also had a TV with the option of paying extra for a film. The room itself was decorated with neutral colours and was modern.

In the cupboard we had extra pillows which we found useful as we usually fight over the pillows at night. The room was a comfortable temperature also. We had a view from the window although it wasn't a great view.

The Travelodge had a vending machine for items such as toothpaste, cereal, drinks and snack which is quite useful if you have forgotten anything.

The Travelodge was easy to find just off the M6 at the Moto services near Stone, it was about 18 miles from Alton Towers. I find that with Travelodge most of them are near services or a main road so are easy to access and find. Overall we had a lovely stay. The room cost us £50 which we thought was good for the two of us, as you'd expect to pay about that in a B+B.

Summary: A basic, but comfortable hotel for the night.
