Advantages: None

Disadvantages: You are not guaranteed a room even if you have paid for it.

Booked on-line to stay at the Ashford Kent Travelodge for one night on the 11th December 2008. Travelled overnight from the Midlands arrived at 4.00am to find my room, that had already been paid for, had been let out. Was told by the receptionist that Travelodge often overbook their rooms. She said there were no other rooms available at any nearby lodges. We were left without anywhere to stay on a freezing cold night (-3C) after driving over 200 miles. She also told us that she had rooms empty but could not let us have one as the water temperature limiters in the rooms weren't working correctly and there was no money in the budget to have them repaired!

I will not use Travelodge again until they remove their overbooking policy. The person I travelled with suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and was exhausted after the journey and needed to rest. We eventually found a room after lots of phoning around and travelling an extra 20 miles.

Summary: Terrible. Will not use again

"most hotels overbook, as there are so many no shows."

T hanks for that although. Perhaps if more people complained about it and actually refused to stay in hotels which had a policy for overbooking we wouldn't have been in that situation.
