Advantages: Clean, well kept and excellent service

Disadvantages: Rooms still on the crampt side, and as yet no single rooms it appears

Before 2008, I had stayed in a variety of Travelodges around the country but that was probably at least 10 years ago. Having now stayed twice at Sunbury-on-Thames this year, I am thrilled at how much they have improved.

This hotel now has its own cafe and bar and offers a variety of breakfasts (including healthy options!). The building was clean and well-maintained, and apart from a mix up about the breakfasts, the staff are pleasant and helpful.

The rooms were comfortable, if a little crampt, but were well equipped and clean. They no longer supply their own toiletries etc. which in my opinion is a good move; I imagine that so many are simply left behind either unused or half used.

There was a well-lit car park and plenty of space and it was close to the M3 and to the British Rail station at Sunbury for easy access into London Waterloo.

Top marks all round; we're off there again tomorrow! The rooms are excellent value at only £19 and there are often special offers at a lower rate.

Summary: There has been a big improvement to the Travelodge brand in the last 10 years; worth a visit.
