Advantages: Family Room sleeps four
Disadvantages: Bad room service / Rooms not catered properly with regards to bedding etc.
Hi, I have already rated my stay on receipt of another mail but as I have received another mail asking me to rate my stay I thought I would do so again.
On day 2 (out of 7 nights), our room had not been attended to and we found the bed extremely uncomfortable. (one should not be feeling bumps all over the mattress as well as the mattress being slanted backwards towards the headboard). I brought this to the attention of Management. We were then moved to another room which we were grateful for. The Travelodge slogan of "Sleep Tight" certainly does NOT ring true.
Like the first room, there was no additional bedding so we moved our bedding to the new room. We also had to move over our towels (bearing in mind, when in the first room that we had to ask for additional towels).
A comment I don't think I did mention in my previous rating was that the room is just too hot. One fan certainly doesn't help. We had even taken the one fan out of our first room (permission granted by Reception) to the other room and it did not help much.
On the 5th day we came back to the lodge (having been out from 8am that morning) to find that the room had once again not been attended to. The bin was full, and the bath had not been cleaned since our arrival. I don't know about normal guests, but I certainly do not expect to bring my bath cleaning solution with me to a hotel in order to clean the bath after we have used it.
Further to this is the issue with your hotel parking. It is absolutely insane to charge a guest 13 pounds a night (or even a reduced rate of 9 pounds). I get the impression that this is to make sure all lodgers check out of their rooms early.
Fortunately for us, we were attending a conference all day and did not need to be in the lodge during the course of the day (although we could have slept in a bit but due to the fact that the nearby parking lot stipulated we had to be out the parking by 8am in order to pay a 1.50 overnight parking charge, we had no choice but to have left the lodge by 7:40am every morning, dragging two kids in tow.
I understand that this lodge is a budget lodge with lower rates, but surely service should not be compromised.
