I booked a bargain room here and I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. I've stayed in a lot of hotel rooms and I am fussy, but I thought that the Travelodge was excellent. My room was clean, the bed very comfortable and the service was good. My room did not have any views, but I suppose this meant that I had a peaceful sleep as I wasn't awoken by traffic. The location was excellent, near to Old Street and Moorgate stations. There is a huge Marks & Spencer's close by if you need to take any food back to the room. I did walk around the area during the night and it did feel pretty safe. It's on the main road which ... Read the complete review

Another trip to London, another Travelodge...this one was booked during one of their periodic sales - enabling me to spend 3 nights in the capital for less than £60 - a bargain no matter which way you look at it. This isn't my preferred London Travelodge - that honour goes to the one in Marylebone - however I had stayed at this one not long after it opened so I knew it wasn't a dump. The Travelodge City Road is located in the City of London, only a short stroll to Liverpool Street Station. The nearest tube stations are Moorgate and Old Street which are located a few minutes walk away. A plethora of buses go past too - the 21, 43, 76, 141, 205, ... Read the complete review

I stayed at this travelodge this weekend with a couple of friends. We booked a family room at a saver rate of £42 - we got this rate booking approximately 3 weeks in advance. The hotel is situated approximately a five minute walk from Old Street tube station. It is very sleek and modern compared to many travelodges in London. We arrived at quarter to three, but were not able to check in straight away because travelodges charge extra for early check in (regular check in is from 3pm). However, we were directed to the adjacent cafe by the very polite staff, who then came over to invite us to check in once they were ready. The room was ... Read the complete review

I stayed in this Travelodge just over a year ago (Oct 2007) when I was on my Hen weekend in London, and found the hotel perfectly adequate. When we arrived it was clear that the hotel had been recently refurbished. The reception area is modern and minimalist. We arrived just after the check-in time of 3 O'clock and although there were a few people in front of us, we were served quickly and the service was friendly. I had booked two rooms for five of us, and they were obliging when I asked for two rooms next to each other. I can't remember which floor the rooms were on, but the were adjacent and identical. The rooms each had a double bed and a sofa ... Read the complete review

I never expect much from a Travelodge, Premier Inn or any budget hotel frankly. If you wanted comfort and luxury, you would stay in a Hilton. For me, this was a base in which to sleep. That being said, you expect the basics from a budget hotel. Thankfully, the Travelodge London City Road fulfilled this. The expected arrival time of 3pm was strictly adhered to and we were made to wait in the reception area until precisley 3pm, despite arriving at 2.50. This was odd, but I tried not to let this ruin my stay. The hotel was chosen, initially, because of its prime location. It is close to tube stations; Old Street being a little less than 500 metres away. This will ... Read the complete review
