I booked one of the Travelodge's £9 rooms to keep me off the streets between an evening flight into Luton and a morning flight out. In retrospect a night at the airport might have been nicer. We arrived to find that entry is via a secured door, requiring that we buzz and talk into a video camera. Fine, except that there was no one there at the other end of the video camera and this was the case for some minutes. Now I am sneaky when it comes to hotel prices, refusing to pay full rates unless disease or pestilence is weighing down upon me...and even then I'd have to think twice! Therefore, when I received a select ticket alert preview of an amazing Rock Festival called 'Sonisphere' held in Stevenage at the beginning of August 2009 via a 'Ticketmaster' email, I was straight on the 'Travelodge' website trawling for a bargain before the actual event went public - and consequently the accommodation rates went through the roof.
