Last weekend I was going to visit my sister in Manchester and I needed a place to stay. It was only one night’s accommodation I needed though, so I didn’t really want to pay anything over £60 for the night. It may sound too cheap for some but I am saving for my holidays so that’s why. I know the Travel Inn and Travel Lodge do cheap rooms as does the Novotel so I looked on their websites to see what they had on offer. Out of all of them the cheapest was definitely the Travel Lodge. I have stayed at the Travel Lodge at Ashton Under Lyne which is on the outskirts of the city and I usually stay here for £26 a night. You have to book over a month in advance if you ... I have stayed in this particular Travelodge a number of times, always for just one night when I have been in need of a city centre place to stay on a budget. For a central Manchester crash pad you could do a lot worse, the location is excellent and despite the fact it is very centrally located I have driven straight to it a number of times (aided by sat nav!) and find it easy enough to park on the NCP which is virtually right next door - there is no allocated parking for the hotel iteself but this seems a reasonable trade off to have everything on your doorstep. Literally a 10 minute walk to Picadilly and Victoria stations, a few minutes from ... Read the complete review

Having had a recent excursion to the city of Manchester, I had a requirment to find a hotel for 1 night. Being the utter cheap skate I am, but still liking a little bit of comfort, I chose the Travelodge brand. I found the Ancoats Travelodge on their own website, just by simply putting in the date of my stay, how many adults and Manchester. The results showed me several in the area, but I chose Ancoats as it was a 5 minute walk from where I needed to be. I booked it all through the website at a cost of £29 for the night. It was all very simple and what I would expect with booking on a website these days. Within 2 minutes, I had 2 emails from travelodge ... Read the complete review

This is one of the newer Travelodges to be situated in Manchester's city centre. It's not in the nicest part of town but it is certainly convenient for a number of locations and activities, for example within a brief walk to Piccadilly and Victoria railway stations, the MEN Arena, The Printworks and the increasingly fashionable Northern Quarter. It's also virtually next door to one of the better comedy clubs in Manchester, the Frog and Bucket. The location is both a blessing and a curse. We stayed at this hotel due to bagging a room in one of Travelodge's frequent £9 sales. One of the big plus points of Travelodge is its consistency, and the rooms at Ancoats ... I spent 4 nights at the Travelodge Manchester Ancoats in July 2008. We were a party of two adults and one child, so we booked a Family Room. Travelodges are cheap and basic, but always clean. We did have to request extra pillows and a sheet for the child's sofa bed and the mattress was too soft but a request for a new one was dealt with quickly. Pricewise this hotel is usually cheaper than the other Manchester Central Travelodge - we paid £39 per night for our room for 4 nights but its worth checking out when sales are on - I later discovered that had I waited a week to book I could have got the room for just £19 per ...
