Spent 4 nights at the Travelodge Manchester Ancoats in July 2008. We were a party of two adults and one child, so we booked a Family Room. Travelodges are cheap and basic, but always clean. We did have to request extra pillows and a sheet for the child's sofa bed and the mattress was too soft but a request for a new one was dealt with quickly. The Manchester Ancoats Travelodge is ideally situated for the city centre - its is a 10 minute walk to both the Arndale Centre and Piccadilly Station and whilst there are limited facilities directly outside the hotel, just a few minutes walk will take you to bars and restaurants. I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during the first week of June. It is close to the shopping centre and fairly close to the train station which made it ideal, I thought. The room was very basic but clean. No air conditioning and very hot so the window had to be kept open at night which made the room noisier, though as it was on the back it wasn't too bad. The bed was terrible, one of the worst hotel beds I have ever slept in. Soft, saggy and extremely lumpy, we also had to ask for extra pillows. We paid for the breakfast on line, which made it slightly cheaper but it ws not worth what we paid for it. There was only 2 kinds of juice, yoghurts, ...

Last weekend I was going to visit my sister in Manchester and I needed a place to stay. It was only one night’s accommodation I needed though, so I didn’t really want to pay anything over £60 for the night. It may sound too cheap for some but I am saving for my holidays so that’s why. I know the Travel Inn and Travel Lodge do cheap rooms as does the Novotel so I looked on their websites to see what they had on offer. Out of all of them the cheapest was definitely the Travel Lodge. I have stayed at the Travel Lodge at Ashton Under Lyne which is on the outskirts of the city and I usually stay here for £26 a night. You have to book over a month in advance if you ...
