“ Address: 432 Broadway / Oldham / Greater Manchester / OL9 8AU / England „
2 Years ago, me and my partner celebrated our love and went on a cheap honeymoon to manchester. We didnt have a lot of money and wanted somewhere cheap to crash after the 3 hour drive up there. We were going to spend the next 2 days visiting my family and going to the peak district just next to manchester.
However the stay (if you can call it that) was not too be.
After getting there and checking in, all was good (what you expect from travelodge), however there were some guests there that wern't ver friendly and the rooms were not good at all.
Our double room was on the top floor and the paint work was faded, there was dirt on the skirtings, the bathroom was not cleaned properly and there was no toilet paper (great start)
Next thing was our neighbours in the hotel, who were very high on weed as we smelt it. At the start we turned a blind eye and went out to get a chippy for dinner, as nothing beats a northern chippy. When we got back, it seemed that the neighbours had been getting a little restless in the hotel room and were srawled in the corridoor. They then followed us to our room trying to look in.
We at this time were a bit scared so waited for them to get into their room and we went down to complain, however the receptionist at that time didn't really care, and would not do anything about it.
We got back to our room and again we were watched and followed to our room. By this time (1am) we were petrified, so again waited for them to get in the room (obviously for another smoke) and we left, giving the reasons why and spent the night driving back 3 hours.
I thought that if people were smoking in the rooms they would be told to stop or leave or in this case the police rung to get rid of them, but nothing was done. the only good point to this is that Travelodge gave us the money back for that stay after we complained.
I will again stay at a travelodge but never agin even contemplate staying at that one.
I would recomend that people stay at a travelodge near to that one thats not so run down like manchester street oldham or ashton under lyme.

OL9 8AU Tel: 0871 984 6236
The reason for our stay was a music concert at The City of Manchester Stadium and staying an extra few miles away saved us a pretty penny! The room itself was just £19 and we had booked about 6 weeks in advance.
~ LOCAL FACILICTIES ~
Travelodge Oldham is located on Broadway, just off a long busy dual carriageway about 2 mils from Oldham town centre and 4 miles from Manchester City centre.
Also nearby is Spindles Shopping Centre (4 miles away), Manchester United Football Club (7 miles), University of Manchester (15 miles) and the Trafford Centre (16 miles)
Next door to the hotel is a Public House (I forget its name) where we ate in the evening. The Pub was extremely busy as it was the weekend and the music was very loud, we found it difficult to chat without shouting. The food was very nice, we had a few starters of potato skins, rubs and onion rings between us and it was affordable and tasty. We also treated ourselves to a Baileys Chocolate Cup which was divine. Lol.
There is also a MacDonalds very close by, which helped us out nicely for breakfast.
~ HOTEL FACILITIES ~
This Travelodge is entirely non-smoking and offers WiFi, which we did not use so i can not comment on it.
There is a vending machine in the lobby selling the usual chocolate, crisps and sweets along with soft drinks and water.
The hotel did offer breakfast for around £4.95 which consisted of longlife products like cereal and vacuum sealed croissants and such like. We did not take them up on this offer as it did not look to be worth the money nor appetising, especially with the MacDonalds near by.
~ OUR ROOM ~
We had booked a family room which sleeps up to 3 adults or a combination of adults and children. There were just the two of us. The room was very comfortable looking and was very clean.
There was adequate wardrobe /hanging space for our short stay. There was no iron or hairdryer in the room, but I have come to expect this from Travelodge and took my own. I do believe that they would easily produce either of these for you to borrow free of charge - I have done so at other locations.
The bathroom consisted of a bath, over bath shower, toilet and sink with a huge mirror and was clean and stocked with enough towels and toilet roll for a our stay. There was a small bar of soap complimentary; no shower gels, shampoos or that sort of thing - so make sure you take your own.
They supply the room with a kettle, mugs and plastic cups with tea, coffee, sugar and UHT milks and keep these well stocked. We actually asked for more Coffee at reception and they were more than helpful.
There is no air - conditioning (or at least was none at the time of our stay) but heating in the form of a radiator. And there is a story to tell here. Just before we nipped over to the boozer next door we turned the radiator on to warm the room up, it was December and very cold). When we returned there was an odd smell in the room, like burning walls! Lo and behold, when I turned the light on the wall which held the radiator was black. It was quite scary really, who knows if we had of stayed out all night - we were only gone for a few hours. We immediately reported it to the reception to make aware of the faulty radiator and they were very grateful and offered to move us. We stayed where we were, with the rad turned off.
~ THE STAFF ~
We actually only came in to contact with one member of staff during our stay, a 20-something lad who kept joining me outside to smoke and got his friend to deliver him a MacDonalds. He was very chatting and friendly and more than happy to help with our requirements. He was still there in the morning when we checked out - they must work some long shifts.
~ OVERALL ~
Overall, a pleasant stay, friendly helpful staff and good local facilities and good location. Everything we needed for the bargain price of £19. We would stay here again if the need arose.
