      Very helpful

I will most probably use this hotel again but won't be paying an early checkin charge

Tune Hotels are a foreign budget hotel chain from Asia, their basis is its a quality room without frills and for a fraction of the cost.

I have stayed in their hotel in Liverpool Street once before a few years ago and found it good, the room had no windows, which I choose to stay in as a room with a window was more expensive and I wasn't in there much, just to sleep so felt it'd not matter, I'd also stayed in a window-less room in the easyHotel before and didn't mind.

Anyway, so I booked this hotel knowing what to expect, but this time booked a room with window as they were on offer (cheaper than a window-less room). I arrived after being up since 0530 at the hotel at approx 1315 but checkin was at 1500, I asked if they mind me checking in as I was dying for a shower but they refused and said "no checkin is 3pm room isn't available" I said "I know but if a room is available would that be ok" and to which the lady replied "no I can change you £10 if you want to" well clearly this is where I got the "Ryanair of the hotel industry" phrase from but the similarities thankfully finish there. And if a room wasn't available then why was she asking me to pay £10 for one? The lady asked her manager and he refused, even though their Liverpool Street hotel allowed me to checkin early as has many of the hotels competitors. I left my bag, at a charge of £2 in left luggage at the hotel and went off to shop. When I eventually checked in another lady was on reception who was polite and checked me in very quickly, had no problems there.

The reception area was very clean and bright, with red & white colours it looks very modern and chic stylish. It was very clean & tidy with black leather chairs & a table, it also had a stand with various leaflets which tourists would find very helpful with whats what in the city and what attractions to see. Their was also a vending machine and coffee machine (behind reception).

The room was on the ground floor so didn't need the lifts but they are right in reception and simple to use if you need them, I was a bit cautious about a ground floor room but it was out the way, not on the main road and was very quiet. The room was, as is the case with budget hotels, basic but perfect for me. The bed was a large double bed, extremely comfortable and their was enough covers to keep me warm (I left the heating on too long though so didn't need them). Their is a flatscreen TV but you pay for the useage but at £3 for a 24hr pass its not exactly going to break the bank so its very reasonable, wifi is also at a charge of £3 which again is very useful, the wifi was fast and that was even on my iPad not a laptop so very good.

The hotel was very easy to get to, with it being just a 5 minute walk from Kings Cross St Pancras station its easy to get trains and the tube, with access to all the major tourist parts of London or more importantly to me on this trip... to the shopping districts like Oxford Street, Covent Garden and Soho.

I would recommend this hotel but don't pay the con of early checkin charge, checkout is also by 1000 but if you really want you can pay to checkout late. The hotel is very clean and modern, beds are very comfy but could maybe do with thicker pillows. Overall for the £29 that I paid for a night in a modern comfortable city centre hotel I am rather impressed.
