Advantages: Restaurant and service fanstastic
Disadvantages: Lots of stairs
General
The hotel itself is very traditional however its appearance is clean and well looked after. The only fault I could find were there were a lot of stairs to different levels on the hotel (sometimes on the same floor) but there are lifts and ramps.
Rooms
The room is traditional in its décor but feels large because of the high ceilings however you do get a lot of space in the room. In the standard double room in addition to the bed you get a table and two chairs, a dressing table, and wardrobe and there still is plenty of space. The bathroom is white, plain/ traditional however immaculate.
Food/ Restaurant
Had a three course meal in the restaurant in the hotel and I could not fault it. I was part of a group of 25 so we had to sit on two separate tables and the restaurant was busy however the staff were brilliant and all of the meals arrived at the same time and we waited no more than 30 minutes from ordering. Our waiter was very professional, friendly and accommodating to such a large and lively group. He had excellent knowledge of the menu and of the wine and was only too happy to offer his help when ordering. The food arrived and it was of a good quality, all three courses tasted fantastic and the portion sizes were good. I ordered steak (medium) and it was cooked perfectly and was extremely lean. The prices are on the higher side but you do pay for the quality
Location
The location is in Newcastle City Centre elevated looking over the Newcastle Quayside. It's on an elevated position and although in the city centre is quite secluded form the hustle and bustle of the city
Price
A double room is about £160 per night which is expensive by Newcastle standards however for what you get it's definitely worth it.
Summary: If you like traditional then go here
