For my mum’s 60th birthday, my sister and I wanted to do something special for her (particularly because it’s a miracle she’s got this far having brought us two up). My sister, who recently visited Walton Hall Hotel and Spa for a friend’s hen night, suggested we take her for a day of pampering, followed by a night in a hotel. Although we were travelling from Staffordshire, where my mum still lives, it was surprisingly quick to reach the hotel – just an hour down the M6.
