      An excellent hotel

I write mainly in defence of this hotel against bearpiglet's review. I notice that she has had 370 readers of her review, with the majority finding it "very useful". I would strongly refute her findings.

My family stayed here over half term (26/30 Oct 09), from the moment we entered the hotel, we were treated as friends. The rooms were more than adequate, clean, TV, tea & coffee facilities, sink, shower (with curtain).

The bar lounge was excellent, with drinks prices actually less than any of my local pubs, which was a big bonus. Entertainment was also excellent, with the banter between the artists and Matt only adding to the enjoyment.

Karen, Matt and Anthony went out of their way and really went the extra mile for us. On our first night, my Mum had an accident whilst getting onto Valhalla on the pleasure beach. The following day we were at the hospital and did not get back to the hotel until well after evening meal service had ended. Karen and Anthony actually brought our evening meals to our rooms, a gesture which to me says everything about these people and the standards they maintain.

Working in the travel business, but not actually selling this type of accommodation (we only sell the bigger, dearer hotels), I have already recommended this hotel to several customers. I'm sure they won't be disappointed.

In short, ignore Bearpiglets review, and book in at The Winterbourne.

Thanks guys for everything, and I can assure you, we will be back.

I'm counting the days until we return to the Winterbourne for new year.OK, the rooms are on the small side, but there's so much going on, all you need your room for is to sleep and shower, so who needs a suite?Matt & Karen are great hosts, Anthony is a star, and everyone makes you so welcome. The hotel is clean, the food is good, and the entertainment is brilliant. Definitely Recommended!

this hotel is real and not false. we went for 5 nights from 25th-29th sept with our 2 year old son and we felt so relaxed and felt we could talk about anything. yes there are no false smiles these people are real people who pride themselves in running a hotel that isnt just another fake venue ! bar is open till 1am ! the hotel is clean so what is the promblem ?

best hotel in blackpool and cheapest by far !

WEEL BE BACK AGAIN FAE BONNY SCOTLAND and will certainly recommend it to our friends

M y husband and I (god I sound like the queen) have just returned from a lovely 3day break at the winterbourne hotel and can't praise it highly enough.
Where on earth can you get b/b for £15 per night , clean rooms , good food ,lovely staff and all the fun you want.
We were made to feel welcome from the minute we walked in the front door and were welcomed by Anthony, who'se sense of humour set us up for the day's ahead.
The entertainment was really good with the artistes joining in the banter, making all of us feel that they knew us personally.
Matt and Karen are brilliant hosts and know how to treat visitors not just as guests but as if we were family, this was our first visit but we will be back.
I won't wright any more as I'm sure my step- daughter wants to make a comment ,as she was also there with her husband and 3 chidren.
No it may not be the Hilton but then would you feel so comfortable and feel you fitted in there .
more power to both Karen and Mat

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

First things first, I am a manager here at The Winterbourne Hotel, and having read "bearpiglet"'s flawed review, I felt I must defend the hotel. I have no objections to anybody expressing their opinion, but an opinion based in fact, especially when you are dealing with peoples livelyhood is surely essential. I answer comments in the review in order. The "badly carpeted tiny staircase", as desribed, is unfounded. If this were the case, we would not have received an accreditation from the Hoast Scheme if this were the case( hoastblackpool.co.uk for further details. We are on there too). This scheme is run by Blackpool Borough Council, and you CANNOT advertise in the Blackpool Brochure without one. Needless to say, we are still there. Along with this, all rooms are also inspected at the same time, and we passed. Easily. Yes, the rooms are not the size of studio flat, but there is easily enough room to "swing a cat" and even a dog if you wanted to!! As one guest put it after reading bearpiglets comments, you are not spending your break confined to your room. It's only somewhere to sleep. There are ample facilities (t.v, tea and coffee making facilities), and whereas items such as shower curtains and soap dishes were indeed missing back in 1991, these have since been addressed. (The hotel was taken over at this time, so anything in the hotel that was missing from the previous owners has been replaced). What more is required? Sky TV and Playstation for the kids? We have also been redecorated from top to bottom. When we get to the "Question Set Information", I'm sorry, but the comments here were laughable. Firstly, how can accurate comments be made on customer service, room comfort, cleanliness, and facilities if the writer did not stay at the hotel? They themselves said that they took a quick look at a room and left. The location of the hotel cannot be faulted. We are lilterally right next to th
e coach terminal, 200 yards off the sea front, and halfway between the Tower and the Pleasure Beach, as well as nclose to a busy shopping area. But, with regards to commenting that we were poor value for money, didn't bearpiglet say in her very first comment that it was a really good deal if you had bed, breakfast and evening meal? Our prices start from £14 per night. We are not the Hilton. We provide a good size bar with ample entertainment through the season. How is that not value for money? And as for the comment by someone else on these pages about a stag and hen party, we don't take them. Never have, never will. I don't mean to come across as sounding bitter, but as I have previously stated, opinions should be stated, and I am simpt taking the opportunity to voice mine. We have had numerous people over the past year that have read bearpiglets comments, some regular guests, some new. Each and every one has stated that her comments are unfounded. In conclusion, I can only direct you to our website (www.thewinterbourne.co.uk. It is still under construction, but bear with it) and say that you really should see for yourself.

I searched the net for a site about this hotel and found none, however the picture in the brochure looked good, a full page ad, nice looking bar etc and a really good deal if you had BB and Evening meal. The hotel has 40 bedrooms and turned out to be a bit of a dump. Luckily we decided not to book in advance but to just turn up and look at the room. We wanted an en-suite double room, we were sent up a badly carpeted tiny staircase into a box room. Three of the walls wrapped around the double bed and the television faced a wall next to the door with no way of seeing it at all! The en-suite consisted of a sink loosly connected to the floor between the Tv and the bed and a room with a toilet and shower base (no door or curtain or towels). Don't bother with this place, we ended up at the Trafford Hotel on the South Prom which I would recommend.
