Advantages: Excellent leisure facilities.
The wrightington hotel is a large hotel with 74 en suite bedrooms it is a four star hotel with excellent leisure facilities . It has a large complimentary car park to the front of the hotel.
As you enter the Wrightington hotel you will see a large reception area and reception desk. There are lots of cosy seating areas dotted around near reception where you can sit and chat, we where there attending a family function so found this really useful.
The hotel is located in Wrightington which is in Lancashire, UK.

You pay for your room when you check in and you are given a key card and directions to your room.
Decorated in blues and greys with a double bed, two bedside tables one of which had a telephone on top of it a large dressing table with a mirror above it and a flat screen satellite television which was fixed to the wall. It was a large room and as you entered the room to the right there was a tea and coffee making area with supplies of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk in tiny cartons and 2 small packets of biscuits. In this area there is also a large walk in wardrobe which contained a trouser press and an iron and ironing board. Every room also had an hairdryer which was in the drawer of the dressing table. We had a lovely view of the gardens form our window.
A decent size with a large walk in shower, toilet and sink it was tiled from floor to ceiling and was brown cream, chrome and white with lots of white fluffy towels. Above the sink was a range of complimentary products soap, shampoo, shower gel and conditioner.
The leisure facilities here are really impressive and consist of :
18 metre swimming pool
Atrium cafe bar which is situated at the side of the swimming pool.
Being a Lancashire lass I had heard about the leisure facilities here before so although we where only staying for one night to attend a family function we checked in as soon as we could about 2 o clock and after dropping our luggage off at our room we headed straight for the swimming pool. The pool is a decent size and the water was a nice warm temperature. After a 30 minute swim I decided to give the Jacuzzi a try it was hot and the bubble jets where really powerful so I sat and relaxed for a good 15 minutes. Next came the steam room which was hot hot hot and really steamy obviously. We did not have time to try all the leisure facilities but got to do the things we wanted then we went to our room to shower and change for the function at night.
~Function at Night~
The function room at night was in the wrightington suite which was set up lovely and we had all pre-ordered our meals I had :
I love asparagus so went for the mushroom and asparagus risotto which was lovely with lots of nice pieces of asparagus on top and the risotto was delicious and creamy with a very slight bite risotto is hard to cook just right but this was perfect.
Pork wrapped in parma ham and served on a bed of colcannon mash this was served with roast and boiled potatoes and seasonal vegetables. This was again delicious the pork was succulent and very tender.
Home made chocolate mousse served with a dark cherry coulis and shortbread biscuits. Really rich and chocolatey I am a bit of a chocolate monster and love morello cherries so this was perfect for me.
Red or white wine was served with the meal and was regularly replenished we also had a glass of bubbly for the toast.
We finished with coffee and chocolates.
~Breakfast the following morning~
Breakfast at weekends is served from 8-10 and you help yourself. There was a choice of cereals, croissants including chocolate ones, fresh fruit and yogurts you can also get a full English breakfast from the hotplate area which I noticed was being regularly replenished this consisted of bacon, sausages, fried eggs, beans, tomatoes. A waiter took our order for tea, coffee and toast.
I had cereal then everything from the hotplate, toast and then finished off with a chocolate croissant and a cup of tea I really enjoyed my breakfast.
I really enjoyed our stay here everywhere was clean and welcoming and the leisure facilities where amazing it is well worth another visit just for that. We enjoyed all the food we had it was very well cooked of an high quality and delicious. If you have anything planned in the Lancashire area I would highly recommend this hotel.
We paid £80.00 for a double room which included breakfast this was a cheaper price because we where attending a function.
Summary: Good Hotel with excellent leisure facilities.
