Advantages: Great Service, Ambience, Comfortable, Fun
Disadvantages: Could do with better soundproofing!
Anyone who has been to Heathrow terminal 4 will know that it is a dismal dreary place with nothing in it but a starbucks and a weatherspoons. Yotel makes it all go away. . .
Yo! Prices
It's mega reasonable. We got a premium cabin for four hours for £40.00, I think the standards are around £25.00. In comparison there is a Hilton at Terminal 4 that costs around £200.00 a night.
Yo! Atmosphere
The Cabin itself is very cool, kind of like a futuristic love-pod. You can imagine James Bond in it - floating into space with some hottie named miss Goodbody or something. The Bed is one of those electric folding beds that were used to fold the glorious Thora Hird (may she rest in peace) and are very comfortable. It does feel like a cabin but a fun futuristic camping-in-space cabin. The lights are a bit hard to control and are a bit blue for my liking but they fit nicely with the decor. Plus there is a 'natural' light option as well.
Yo! Amenities
The awesome powershower and bathroom are only separated by a glass wall (which thankfully has a curtain) so if you're sharing the room you do need to know someone really well!
Yo! Best Entertainment
When we put some music on we were really surprised at the quality of the selection. For instance they had Peaches (OMG THAT"S RIGHT) Stevie Wonder, The Beach Boys, AC/DC and many others that were highly to my liking. You can also order movies or listen to the radio.
Yo! Staff
Were really helpful and friendly - even when we broke one of the glasses in the room they didn't charge us or act shirty or anything. Check in was easy and the booking process was pretty straighforward as well.
Yo! A bit more info.
If you go to their website www.yotel.com you can take a mini virtual tour of the rooms and find out the prices. They're part of the Yo! Sushi Chain and there is something about the design of the cabins that is gloriously functional and still really fun. They have Yotels in Gatwick, Heathrow and Amsterdam and hopefully more will spring up soon as they're wonderful
I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs to travel at funny hours, likes pretending they're in a Sci-fi movie or wants to escape the terrible boredom of Terminal 4.
Summary: I've seen the future, either that or I've been to a Yotel

- 13/06/09 Sounds a bit claustrophobic to me, somehow, but a good clear review. |
