Cath Kidston Block Pad
by brady58 As everyone who knows me knows I am a little bit obsessed with all things Cath Kidston and love the vintage inspired patterns that are used on all her products. On the Cath Kidston website you can buy everything from bags to dog collars all with distinctive and vintage patterns on them. The block pad is a great little item ... that doesn't cost the earth and is really handy for having next to the phone or just for scribbling notes on to stick to the fridge to tell your kids to do something. I have had a few of these over the years all with different patterns but as I like nearly every pattern in the range I couldn't tell you which is my favourite as they are all so pretty. The block pad comes with 800 blank sheets of paper to use which are a good enough size for scribbling some notes on or taking down a message or phone number. What is really nice about these block pads is that you won't need to hunt out a pen as the block has a hole in it designed to fit a pen so that it is always to hand. This does mean that the paper has a hole in it when you tear it off but as it is in the corner it doesn't really get in the way. The famous Cath Kidston patterns are designed all the way around the block pad so you get the view of it no matter where you place the pad. The paper is a really nice quality and feels thick and doesn't tear easily when you are writing on it. As the paper is on top of other paper on the block it actually makes it really simple to write on even when the pen you are using is starting to run out. These little block pads cost around about £6 each and I think this is well worth the money as they are lovely and as well as being useful they make great little presents for people. Cath Kidston Birds Notebook
by brady58 I have been a big fan of Cath Kidston for years and have quite a few of her bags. As well as bags the company also do loads of other products from mugs to dog collars all with the distinctive feminine and retro prints. I actually have two notebooks both given as gifts, one with the more traditional flowers and this one with ... the bird pattern. The bird pattern is one of my favourite prints by Cath Kidston and I have a few items with it on. It is just a little different from the flowers that the company is famous for but it still has that vintage vibe and is so pretty and feminine that I can't help but to love it. The notebook actually has more flowers than some of the other bird items and you can tell straight away it is a Cath Kidston product. The notebook is spiral bound and all the pages are lined with date and subject on the top. The paper is really good quality and is nice and thick and feels nice to write on. You can write on the pages and the impression doesn't show on the next page unless you write really hard. The paper feels expensive and luxurious and you can tell this isn't just a cheap notebook from poundland. The only problem that I have with the notebook is that I don't like just scribbling down notes in it as it is so pretty I don't want to waste it by writing in it. I usually just save it for notes/recipes/back up addresses and phone numbers so that I don't fill all the pages with rubbish and so I can keep it for a long time. This would make a lovely gift for anyone as it is so pretty and you can tell straight away from just holding it that it is lovely quality. They aren't cheap though and cost between £8 and £10 but I would say they are worth it. It isn't the type of notebook for scribbling in as it is too nice but you can buy a 50p notepad for scribbles and save this in your handbag for more important notes. Read the complete review |

Cath Kidston Birds Notebook
by askmeanything Be satisfied: This is a pretty and feminine spiral notebook. The hardback cover is good and strong. The paper inside is of good thick quality. The inside pages are red-lined with the headings 'Subject' and 'Date'. The ink from pens does not come through and so avoids ruining the following pages. There can be no doubt that you ... will be satisfied with the high quality of this product. Be organised: There are not that many pages so it is best avoided for lengthy writing such as for daily diary entries. It has a better purpose if used for making lists and jotting down ideas. It can be used for taking down someone's contact details too. It's a little larger than A5 an does fit into my handbag. It can certainly help the disorganised to become organised. Be stylish: The design has beautifully decorative roses on it together with a bird print. The red-breasted birds sit on the delicate green vines or fly through the air .The roses are red and yellow and there are also delicate blue flowers. It is not an overly busy design as it is on a white background which seems to calm the pattern. It does not fill the whole front cover for the very lowest part of the book has polka dots. The back of the notebook offers validation of it being a 'Cath Kidson' product. Inside the covers is a pastel blue spot decoration so even opening the notebook brings aesthetic pleasure. The feel of the crisp paper under your hands really makes you believe you can write great ideas into this special notebook and do so with style. Buy British: Cath Kidson is a British designer who has taken the vintage from the floral patterns and made them into something unique and highly desirable. Buying British and into the name of a reputable designer does come with a heavy price tag compared to the plain, cheap, journalist spiral notebook. Expect to pay between six to eight pounds. Against the grain: Here's the problem, the Cath Kidson notebook is beautifully designed so much so that it went against the grain for me to use it to write in. I thought of giving the notebook away as a present. To write in it felt like a desecration of sorts. I finally, came to the conclusion that I could use the notebook and that I should enjoy it. It's no good being left in a drawer. It is made to be used. Now I enjoy it for making plans in. I write down my goals and tick them off. I use the book to make good things happen in my life and maybe if I hadn't permitted this use of the notebook I wouldn't have taken the time to sit down and plan and achieve my happiness. Therefore, the Cath Kidson notebook has been worth every pound I spent on it even though, I admit, this is an indulgence! Happy Writing! Read the complete review |
