Lakeland Lock & Lock Container
by MsTricia
Now, everyone knows it's cheaper (and often even tastes better really!) to just bring food for lunch from home and wherever I can, I like to do this so it's handy to have some good quality plastic containers to carry the food in. Don't get me wrong I have plenty of those cheap containers from chinese/indian takeaways but I also have a ... small collection of these lock and lock containers to keep my food seal tight during transportation!
The containers are ideal, and I own about three that can all fit inside each other, and mine are all a nifty rectangular shape varying from small to large. The containers essentially have plastic flaps at on each edge which fold down under the lid of the container to secure the lid to the container effectively. These click into place so you know they are sealed properly and this ensures an airtight seal so food can also stay fresher for longer, and where the container is sometimes placed in my handbag when bashed about there are no spillages of spag bol all over the contents of my bag!
The plastic is really durable and thicker than the cheap containers I get from the takeaway, and these containers are also ideal as they can go in the microwave. This is perfect for me as it means I can pop my lunch in the microwave at work, and eat straight out of it so I am able to save on washing up by not having to transfer it to a plate! Saying that, these are easy to wash by hand and are also dishwasher safe (not that I am fortunate to own one!)
These aren't the cheapest, but don't break the bank either as I think I paid somewhere between 50p to £1.50 or so for my containers in a local homeware store. They are really multi purpose, and great for storing leftovers in the fridge or taking food out and about so they are good value and long lasting as I have definitely had mine a good few years.
These can be bought from lakeland.co.uk or you can shop around but in any case these are a fab buy and I totally recommend them! Read the complete review |

Lakeland Chrome Banana Tree
by ladyradley
I bought this from Lakeland several years ago now and I really like it.
Bananas should not be kept in a fruit bowl with other fruit and so this would mean that we would leave our bananas on the kitchen side beside the bowl. I found that they would often get bashed and would ripen really quickly. I read that these banana trees ... help to keep bananas from ripening too quickly so I bought one from Lakeland.
The tree doesn't take up much room on my kitchen surface so it saves me space as the bananas on their own would take up more room. It is very stylish as it's metal and shaped nicely. It doesn't take up much room and it isn't intrusive so it fits in any kitchen.
You hang your bananas from the hook at the top and it helps to keep them fresh and not ripen too quickly.
I have found that it is true- these trees do actually work! My bananas do not ripen as fast as they used to but the main reason why I like it is that it looks much better to have my bananas hanging from here rather than just lying on a work surface getting in the way.
The only problem I find is if you have a large bunch it is quite hard to get them onto the hook and this can be a little frustrating but aside from that it is fine. It does work, it doesn't get in my way and I like how simple it is. It gets 5 stars from me. Read the complete review |

Lakeland Heated Tower Airer
by lotbot88
This product is just like a traditional clothes area, but with an added bonus. The contraption plugs and and so the rails that your clothes hang from become heated to around the temperature of a hot radiator. As far as I know, this product is a Lakeland exclusive. Other sizes do exist in the range but this is the only one I personally ... own. It cost me around £90 about six months ago.
ADVANTAGES
DRYING TIME - as you might expect, drying time is considerably reduced compared to drying on a traditional airer. This has an added benefit of avoiding that musty smell clothes sometimes get when they have taken too long to dry
FLEXIBILITY - the airer gives you the options of only having half of it up. Each rail can be put up or down as you wish meaning that you could have one half down and so it could be stored against a wall without half of it with clothes. This isn't a feature I use much though, for reasons explained in the 'size' part of my disadvantages section
DISADVANTAGES
SIZE - perhaps this is just me but I would like one that is even bigger. I cannot comfortably put a whole load's worth of non-tumble clothes on this without really cramming it on so I still need to turn to my traditional airer for over spill.
TURN OFF - it can be easy to leave this on way longer than you meant to. There is an orange light that is on when the airer is on, that shines at the botton of one of the legs. We keep this in our spare room and it is easy to forget its on. We're pretty good at remembering but it coulc be on for hours on end. I think the option of an automatic shutdown after, say, ten hours, would be useful. At 5p an hour its not something you want on for days on end. Read the complete review |
