==Air Wick Freshmatic Automatic Spray==

Since writing this review for the first time we have been blessed with a little boy, I do not use these in the house anymore unfortunately as I would recommend their use with a small child in the house as they are quite strong aerosols. In the future I may have them in some rooms such as the bathroom and perhaps the landing so the scent disperses throughout the house and is not confined and therefore over powering.

==Why did I purchased this item? ==
I like my home to smell nice all of the time, this can be quite hard with a small dog who likes to play outside and bring in her muddy smell and a husband whose job requires him to be constantly outdoors and active so mud mixed with more mud, sweat and wet dog and man can get very whiffy very quickly! I enjoy Yankee Candles but for obvious reasons you cannot leave them unattended or on for too long so the scent is more of a temporary quick fix measure. I saw these Air Wick Freshmatic sprays in my local supermarket so I decided to give them a go, the idea of them instantly appealed to me as they are battery operated so you can just stick them on and leave them to it, much better than the normal spray canisters, where I would have to run round the house after both the husband and dog showering them in a glistening spray of air freshener every so often. Anyways enough about my stinky housemates!

==Initial impressions==
Well I purchased two of the Freshmatic spray units which come with a scented aerosol, the packaging was relatively easy to open and once opened I was greeted by a rather bulky unit, however the size did not put me off as it just meant that it was capable of holding a large unit of spray so the size was outweighed by the products benefits in my opinion. I was shocked to find two white unbranded batteries; I thought I would have had to purchase my own as they never normally come with the product. The batteries have a good life in them and are still going strong after 2months of use, I have not had to change them, for me this would not be a problem as we sort of have a battery hoarding system in this house, by hoarding system I mean you could probably look in any cupboard in any room and find either a full pack of batteries, half pack, or the odd one lying around (my husband gets them from work, don't worry it is all legit the company have that many they practically throw them in our direction, hence the overflowing amount in our house. It's like the Duracell bunny has had a party and all of his friends have crashed out in random places!) Anyway, back to the review! The can of fragrance we got with this particular unit was smooth satin and moon lily, I'm sorry but these fragrances are getting more extreme as the years go by, what on earth does smooth satin smell like and moon lily for that matter? I couldn't go into extreme detail of the fragrance but it was very pleasant, strong at first and then it became faint but at the right level.

==The unit itself==
As I have already mentioned the unit is battery operated and takes 2 AA batteries which are supplied with the product. The unit can be adjusted to 4 different settings, one of these being off. The different settings are for the amount of times you want the spray to go off, the larger the flower (how they display the setting), the more times the product will spray. I find that the middle setting is the best for our household. The unit is quite large and you have to find somewhere to display the unit, we have had a few near misses when my daft husband thought it would be a good idea to put it on the stairway window, this was ok for both of us as we expected it to randomly shoot out at you. However, when an electrical engineer came round and was having a chat with me at the top of the stairs it managed to miss my head and aim directly into his mouth, let's just say it got moved shortly afterwards! I now keep them up high so the spray distributes better, I find on top of the wardrobe is ideal and with being vertically challenged (4ft 11!) it means I get away with not having to deal with them the hubby has the job of changing sprays and batteries when required, it's a win win situation, well for me anyways!

==Available sprays==
There are many sprays available for these units some are Air Wick branded and I have also found that you can buy certain supermarket branded sprays which also fit, therefore saving you a few pennies! However, on saying that a few I have purchased recently (unbranded sprays) they have claimed to fit in the unit but when they have been put in, the unit realises they aren't the real McCoy and it starts flashing red and fails to operate. I would therefore recommend sticking to the actual Airwick canisters. The Airwick sprays available at present are: soft satin and moon lily, cool linen and white lilac, white vanilla bean, lavender and camomile, mulled wine and cinnamon apple, blackberry fig. They are a few examples I am sure there are a few more available. We have tried a wide variety of these sprays and they have all been pleasant they start of quite powerful and then they become pleasantly subtle and the smell lasts for a good period of time before completely disappearing. They have a more expensive scent to them then some air fresheners we have bought in the past, particularly ones which make your whole house smell like you have gone a bit mad with the toilet air freshener there is nothing worse than people coming round for tea and wondering why it smells like there may have been some time spent in the toilet!

==Overall===
I don't think there is anything bad to be said about these sprays I think they are very useful and time efficient as you don't have to go round spraying them every five minutes to get the full effect of the product. I would turn them off on an evening though as a precautionary measure as obviously if you sleep with the bedroom door closed I don't think you would fancy drowning in a sea of soft satin and moon lily spray, although at least you would smell great when they found you! All jokes a side I think this product is great, it can be a little pricey expect to pay between 8-12 pounds per unit and sometimes it works out better to buy a new system with spray then to buy a single refill. Shop around and you will find the best deals.

Summary: A great household spray system
