Advantages: Does Not Look Like An Air Freshener!
Disadvantages: This Scent Of This One Was Quite Overpowering.
With a house filled with 5 people and I am always looking for new ways to keep them smelling fresh, sorry Freudian slip I obviously mean keep the house smelling fresh.
I decided to try the Air Wick reed diffuser when it was on offer for half price £3.00 and I cant resist a bargain especially a scented bargain!
The reed diffuser fits in really well with the current vogue for air fresheners that don't look like air fresheners and are noe being designed to look like a ornamental piece, it seems that gone are the days of having the white plastic ones with the jelly like substance.
As I said I was swayed by the price but also the lovely sounding scent, midnight blackberry and luxury vanilla although I do have to say that I am unsure what midnight blackberry is, perhaps these are special ones picked only at midnight?
When you take the product out of the box it is in two parts, first you have the small glass vase which is about 6 inches in height. the glass vase is filled with a thick scent liquid which in this case is a almost clear colour and mixed in the liquid are small little wax ball which are about half the size of a malterser these are a cream colour.
The top of the vase has a cap that you need to unscrew and push out the sealing disc and then you can replace the cap which has a hole in the middle and this is where the second part comes in.
Also in the pace are the natural rattan sticks of which there are 6 and the are about the size of your average pencil. You insert the sticks into the hole at the top of the vase and it's the stick that draws up the fragrance and gently releases it.
The scent of this one is quite strong and there is no way to decrease or increase the scent which is why I usually like the plug in ones and for this reason I think that you need to place this in quite a large room so that the scent is not to overpowering. The scent itself was quite natural though the blackberry was quite subtle and it's the vanilla that really comes through strongly.
While discussing the scent its worth saying that the box states that you should get 4 weeks of fragrance from the diffuser and I found that it did indeed last for at least 4 weeks and the fragrance stayed strong for all that time.
Ascetically the reed diffuser is nice to look at and looks unobtrusive in the room and doesn't scream "I'm here because she is trying to hide a smell!"
All in all it's a lovely way to freshen up your home and it does look good however I would probably get a more subtle fragrance next time and wait until its half price again as I'm not sure that I would pay £6.00 for it.
Precautions
Obviously it goes without saying that you need to keep these always from children and animals, I accidentally touched the sticks when cleaning and the scent was really strong on my hands and took a while to get off so with young children's necessity to put everything in their mouth make sure its out of reach.
Keep it away from fish tanks and bowls also as my friend used air fresheners in the same room as her sons goldfish and it took a while to realise what was causing it as they were onto their sixth fish!
