Advantages: Easy to use, great price, lovely fragrance, very effective
Disadvantages: None that I have discovered as yet
I have wanted a reed diffuser air freshener for some time, but have always been put off by the price until I spotted this at a great price at Wilkinson's. I usually have plug in air fresheners which are expensive and don't really last that long as well as me being a bit concerned about a fire risk with them (a friend who is a firefighter says they can be very dangerous in this respect, as they are left plugged in for so long and get so hot). My mum uses a reed diffuser and has always raved about how much better they are, but hers cost £12 and I have seen some in the shops for even more than this - over £20 in some cases! - so I have been reluctant to get one.
However, I spotted this Air Wick one in Wilkinson's for only £3 and thought it was definitely worth a go. In all honesty I wasn't expecting it to be that great, due to the price - you get what you pay for right? - but it wasn't much money to lose and it was no more than a plug in refill would have cost. There were a few different fragrances available, including a Christmassy fragrance, but I opted for Crisp Linen & Lilac.
It basically consists of a small jar of 'perfume' into which you place the short reed sticks and it works by the reeds drawing up the frangrance through them and then this diffuses it into the air. I would never have believed how effective this product was if I'd not tried it myself, after putting it on top of my living room cupboard I went upstairs and when I came down 10 minutes later the fragrance was alwready wafting up the stairs! It is a lovely scent and although it has filled the downstairs with it, it is not too overpowering at all. As I haven't had it very long I can't comment on how long it will last, though from other people I have heard that they do last longer than plug ins and there is quite a lot of fragrance in it so I imagine it will last a while.
Either way at £3 a go it is just brilliant, I am off to buy another one for my bedroom! It does say to be careful of putting it on certain surfaces and I would certainly avoid putting it on anything varnished but so long as you are careful with it & ensure it doesn't get knocked over you should be fine.
Summary: A fantastic product with an appealing price tag!
