An excellent unit from Airwick that keeps my home smelling lovely.

In the winter I find that my home tends to harbour smells much more so than in the summer when the windows are open all the time and for that reason I like to have an air freshener of some sort around, recently when I was in my local Asda I came across this Air Wick duo that had 2 bottles of fragrance plus the unit for just £1.25 instead of the usual £7.99, it was worth me buying this rather than replacing the glass bottle in my original unit as this cost around the £3.30 mark so a bit of a saving, I also got a £1 off coupon inside the packaging which I was chuffed with.

The air freshener comes packages in a plastic pack that is a nightmare to get into, I had to use a mixture of cutting, pulling and fearing for my fingers until it finally came apart, I would much rather that there was plastic casing that was then backed onto cardboard as it's so much easier to get into than these new all plastic casings. I do understand that it may help deter shoplifting and the like but even so beware!! Once you do manage to get inside you're pretty much set.

The unit itself is white in colour and it does stay this colour, I have been using mine almost a month now and there has been no discolouration and I don't expect any either, I have used many units in the past and none of them have become unsightly looking. On the underside is the space for 2 bottles of fragrance to go in, the packaging advises us that any Air Wick bottles can be used in these units, I haven't tried it yet as I haven't had to replace the bottles but I hope it's true as it means you can go for the cheaper options rather than being forced to buy the more expensive offerings. On top of the unit are 2 doughnuts that are pale blue in colour, these are the controls for the fragrance and how much is released at any given time. These are very simple to use, you simply twist to the right for more fragrance and left for a more subtle offering. I have mine set on the first setting in an attempt to make the bottles that came with the unit last longer. The bottles that are supplied are smaller than the bottles that come with other units and unlike the others the bottle slot in sideways. I had to remove the plastic cap by simply unscrewing it and then pushing the white stick into the hole and it clicks in place, it took seconds and I have had no problems with it not being strong enough or falling out. The plug itself fits easily into my standard plug socket, with the unit being a bit bigger than others available it is bulkier and doesn't fit seamlessly into the room but it's not so big that it's ugly and automatically noticeable, I think it looks quite nice actually. As the bottles are transparent it is easy to see how much of the fragrance is left which is a nice feature.

The packaging doesn't tell you how much electricity this unit uses but I have had it on 24/7 for the last month or there abouts and I haven't noticed any significant difference in my electricity consumption so it can't be using that much. The fragrances last a decent amount of time as I say I have had mine a month or so now and it still has the original bottles attached and there is around 1/4 left in each one. I have had it on the lowest setting for most of the time as I found my home smelt gorgeous all the time with this setting and any more I felt would have been too overpowering. I was supplied with lavender and vanilla bean, the lavender isn't so detectable but the vanilla bean is delicious it is divine! I am not a huge fan of vanilla fragrances but this one is so nice, it's subtle yet powerful and it's not in any way artificial smelling like can sometimes be the case. I like personally that once these fragrances have run out I will have the opportunity to purchase my favourite scents. I also have to add in that I thought the fragrances were released in harmony but after reading a review on here a while ago I found out that actually the fragrances are switched although I can't say I notice this as my house always smells of the vanilla bean one at the moment. To buy airwick refills they can often be bought on a 2 for £6 deal which means that to fragrance the majority of my home with it being very open plan only costs me £6 per month which I think is an excellent deal. I would never have picked up this unit had it not been on sale and I really wish I had picked up another, even if it was just for the refills as it would still have been cheaper.

I would advise anyone to give this unit a go, it's easy to use, long lasting and it smells divine. Alongside this the scents are pretty long lasting and you have the option of choosing double packs of pre-chosen scents or you can pick 2 of your own favourites from the other Air Wick varieties to make your own combination. I think for £7.99 it is a bit costly but for the price I paid it was most definitely a bargain!

      A brilliant invention from Airwick

I recently decided that I had had enough of using air freshening sprays and incense sticks all the time, and I wanted something with a bit less effort involved to keep my home smelling nice. I was in Wilkinson when I saw that they had a special offer on the Airwick Symphonia range, and at just £4, it seemed like a perfect idea.

I picked a christmas themed plug in, as it is nearing to christmas and I love christmas. The scents included with the plug in I bought are Rich Vanilla and Caramel Swirl, with Mulled Wine and Cinnamon Spiced Apple. Luckily there is a scratch and sniff on the packet, so you can test the fragrance before buying it. This saves you from wasting money should you find that you do not like the smell afterwards.

The plug in is of a general size, and it slides into the plug socket quite easily. The top half of the plug in is white and the bottom half is clear so you can see how much of each fragrance is left. It looks quite stylish and discreet at the same time, and most of the time I do not even notice it sitting in the corner of my living room.

There are 2 small dials on the top of the plug in, which allow you to control how strong each scent is, so you can have one much stronger than the other should you wish. It may take some trial and error to work out how strong to have each scent to your liking. The idea of the Symphonia is that the scent changes every hour, so you do not have a chance to get used to the smell, thus rendering it useless.

I didn't notice the scent at first use, but after a while, it had built up quite well and soon my house was smelling absolutley lovely. Both scents have quite a different style to them, but they blend together well, so no matter at what point of the change over, my house smells beautiful.

There is truly a christmassy smell to the Symphonia, and I am really pleased with the fragrances. They are not too strong either, so I believe they have been set just perfectly to release the right amount of fragrance into my home. People always comment how lovely my house smells, and even though there is only one plug in, which is plugged into my living room, my whole home smells great and I have not had any worries of bad odours or lingering smells, even though I have a kitten with a litter tray in the home.

I was a little worried that the scent would be too strong or sickly, but I have actually found it to be perfect and I am very pleased with it. I have had mine plugged in 24 hours a day since I bought it 3 weeks ago, and I haven't even noticed the fragrance levels drop a bit, so I am expecting this to last quite a long time.

There is the chance to have different frangrances mixed together for the Symphonia, as you can buy refills for the plug in, which are available in a whole array of different fragrances, so you can select from a whole choice and always have a different set of fragrances for your home. These refills are available from Wilkinsons, and some Supermarkets, just like the plug in unit itself.

I am over all, really pleased that I purchased this plug in unit from the Airwick Symphonia range, as it really has made my home smell lovely, and it is a smell I love walking through the door to. It really does make my home smell like a home!! I have not had the need for air freshener sprays, incense sticks or scented candles since I started using this product, and I do not think I will ever be going back.

I totally recommend the Airwick Symphonia Plug In, to make your home smell beautiful and fresh. 100% recommended and a 5 out of 5 stars from me.

A perfect and safe way to fragrance your home

If you are familiar with my reviews you will be aware that I love cleaning my home and ensuring that everything is in is' proper place much to my husband's frustration. Whilst neither my husband nor I smoke I will not allow anybody to light a cigarette, so unfortunately, they are banished to the back garden. I am very passionate about home fragrancing and I would dread to think how much money I have invested over the years in various sprays, plug ins and candles. I choose aromas dependent upon the time of year as well as my mood at any given time. If you are familiar with home fragrancing you will be aware that very often the nasal passages being accustomed to an aroma and the scent sometimes seems non existent. A product that I have been purchasing for a good few months belongs to Air Wick, which is one of the leading brands for home fragrances and its' name is Symphonia Plug In and Create and this review discusses my experience with using the product.

      APPEARANCE OF THE PACKAGING

I have been purchasing Air Wick products for as long as I can possibly remember where they were initially provided to us loose in a cardboard box. Air Wick is clearly attempting to consider the environment by now placing their products within sturdy transparent packaging, but in my opinion they seem to be using more packaging than they would have with a simple box. Located at the front of the packaging is a large label in calming colours of green, lilac and white with the familiar Air Wick logo situated in the upper left hand corner. There are a few pretty images below that illustrate the fragrances contained within the packaging and there is a large cut out in the centre of the label to enable us to see the product. What I love about this product is that it is a duo plug in, so it alternates my choice of fragrances. Whilst this product is available in a variety of fragrances the one I am currently using in my home is a real favourite of mine for the warm summer months, namely Freesia and Jasmine and Cool Linen and White Lilac.

      MY EXPERIENCE WITH USING SYMPHONIA

The first battle is to remove the product from the packaging, as it is impossible to open without a pair of scissors and I feel that this is an area that Air Wick have failed to carefully consider. Consequently, I cut along the upper section and then have the task of tugging quite forcefully to pull the lower packaging apart. The plug in unit is manufactured from a sturdy white plastic measuring 9 cm in height, so I do not feel it is too obtrusive when plugged into an electric socket. On the upper section are two light blue circular dials with five raised areas above each, which represent the settings with the lowest strength being on the left hand side.

Inside the pack are two glass bottles; each containing a different liquid fragrance, but for some reason the bottles are much smaller than the standard Air Wick refills, as they are only 12 ml with the standard size being 19 ml. However, I would advise that the larger refills fit the unit, which is a real positive as far as I am concerned, particularly as I own rather too many! On unscrewing the lid I am able to witness a thick white area with its' appearance being similar to a drinking straw and it is this that clicks tightly into the upper section of the unit to allow the fragrance to be drawn through. It's advisable to retain the lids for when you need to dispose of the bottles to prevent any spillages.

I can confirm that the refills sit tightly inside the unit, so unless they are sharply knocked there is no risk of them falling out and spilling their contents over your carpet. The first time I used this unit I forgot to change the setting and unfortunately, Air Wick had placed the dials on the highest, so my fragrances lasted only two weeks. Consequently, I always choose the lowest strength, as otherwise it would be very costly to continually purchase new refills. Within minutes of plugging in the fragrance of the Freesia and Jasmine began to fill my room. I haven't a clue how long it takes before the unit automatically changes to the alternative fragrance, but I always wonder when I've been out for the day which fragrance I will witness when I open the door.

The refills tend to last around a month when on the lowest setting and whilst I often become used to my plug ins I always seem to be able to witness these, particularly as the scents are constantly alternating. Whilst Symphonia is provided to us in set fragrances I am able to choose my personal favourites such as lavender, which I find so calming and relaxing. Whilst the fragrances are fairly powerful I never feel they are heavy and with three of the plug ins strategically placed in a few areas I am able to fragrance each and every room of my home. Air Wick advise that the plug in should not be used continuously, so it is advisable to unplug and remove from the socket during the night.

      OTHER INFORMATION

Unfortunately, Air Wick fail to advise us of the electricity consumption with this unit and I have checked on the packaging of one of my standard Air Wick plug ins where it advises of low consumption of 2.5W. As with all products of this nature care should be taken not to make contact with the skin as irritation could occur. The unit and refills can be recycled after use although I would have no reason to discard the unit itself. If you would like further information on any of the Air Wick products I would suggest checking out their website, as they often provide downloadable money off vouchers.

      PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

I was fortunate enough to purchase my Symphonia on offer a good few months ago and I stocked up in Tesco last month where they were reduced from their normal price of £7.99 to £3.99. I cannot ever see me purchasing at this price, so I would advise to keep an eye on the offers at the various supermarkets.

I cannot recommend this product highly enough, as I find the fragrances offered by Air Wick always smell so natural as opposed to Ambi Pur whose aromas always seem to be far too perfumed and rather overpowering. Consequently, 5 stars from me.
