Airwick Mulled Wine Aerosol
Advantages: Strong, Clean smell. Seasonal, Cheap. Better than other aerosol air fresheners
Disadvantages: Can leave spots behind
Currently on offer at Tesco priced at just £1.00 Air Wick's Mulled Wine air freshener was a recent purchase I made whilst doing an instore grocery shop. I like to keep different home fragrancing products in supply at home and whilst I generally think that generic air fresheners can be a little on the hit or miss side I must admit to being quite impressed with this offering from Air Wick.
It's sold in a standard aerosol cannister containing 240ml of air freshener and printed on the reverse of the can are various claims and statements, Air Wick likes to tell us that their air fresheners are different to others as they are propelled by fresh air rather than artificial-smelling butane and boast that their products have a 'clean' fragrance rather than anything too synthetic. Apparently Mulled Wine creates a "dazzling ambience" when sprayed into the air and Air Wick informs that this formulation is longer-lasting than previous aerosols.
As mentioned in other reviews I find that other aerosol air fresheners are usually Ok for delivering a quick burst of fragrance but tend to think that they dissapate too quickly leaving very little evidence to suggest that they have been sprayed in the first place. Some can be very artificial-smelling, others too cloying and strong so it's very rare that I come across a fragrance that I like and want to rebuy again. For a quid I thought I had little to lose by taking a chance on Mulled Wine, I liked the images of Christmas and the Winter months that this created when I saw it so decided to see if it would live up to how I imagined.
Mulled Wine is a deep fragrance with a spicy, cinammon-y undertone that adds an extra layer of interest. Sprayed into the air in my living room its fragrance was immediately noticeable and my first impressions were very good. I liked how it seemed to develop into a warming, welcoming scent and surprisingly for an aerosol air freshener I found that I could still smell it a couple of hours after being sprayed. It's not too in-your-face that it's headache inducing but it's strong enough to clear the air of any tobacco smells that may be lingering and used in my kitchen I found it effective at removing cooking smells.
It shouldn't be used on fabrics as it's not a fabric freshener but inevitably some did fall onto my sofa when I sprayed it and I could still detect it on there later in the day and I was surprised at just how long-lasting this one actually is. It is a 'clean' smell as Air Wick claims and definitely suits the colder months of the year, it has depth of fragrance and did put me in mind of Winter and the run up to Christmas. For a seasonal fragrance I thought this worked well and it did appeal to me and whilst no aerosol has the strength to rival a scented candle in terms of fragrance-producing I've still been left feeling rather impressed with this one from Air Wick.
The only downsides with a product of this nature is the usual 'spotting' that occurs when the fragrance mist settles onto furniture and floor, I have a lot of glass furniture at home as well as laminate flooring and I could see the tiny little marks that it left on my surfaces. It's not a particularly wet mist that is created but does still leave a trail where it has been sprayed, these marks are easily removed though but slightly annoying all the same.
All in all there's plenty to like with Mulled Wine and I would buy it again even if it wasn't on special offer. I like it's fragrance, it is very seasonal and did put me in mind of Christmas and I liked the images it created. It's strong enough to be noticeable and it does remain in the air for a good few hours and does add a bit of interest and fragrance to a home. It's probably been one of the best aerosol air fresheners I've bought and I would recommend it to others so it gets a 4 star rating from me.
Thanks for reading my review.
Summary: An aerosol air freshener I would recommend. That makes a change!
