Advantages: Its cheap and does its job
Disadvantages: Very thin, bad colour
Since moving into our home almost 3 years ago we have never used a bath/shower mat but since I've been pregnant Mark my husband has insisted I use one when I shower. I hate bath mats, I hate the way they feel under my feet and I hate the way they go black and nasty underneath but I saw his point and duly went to Argos and purchased the cheapest bath mat I could find. The Argos Value Range Rubber Bath Mat costs just £2.99 and comes in just one colour, Ivory. I wasn't keen on the Ivory colour and usually I really like everything to co ordinate, but as I only plan on using it for a few weeks I didn't want to pay anymore than I had to.
When I got home and had a good look at the mat the ivory colour was more of a beige. It definitely wouldn't have been a colour I would have chosen!
The bath mat is made from what Argos call "comfortable rubber". It has a slightly textured surface and has several drainage holes running diagonally across it. The mat stays put in the bath by using suckers under the mat as is the case with most bath mats. The mat measures approximately 56cm's long and 36cm's wide.
To use the mat is easy, its just a case of pressing the mat onto the bottom of the bath until the suckers suction to the bath. The mat should then be secure enough to stand on without it slipping.
As bath mats go the Argos value range one does its job. I can stand on it and shower without it slipping or moving. It doesn't feel particularly comfortable under foot but it serves its purpose. As for how it looks, well its horrible. Its a dreadful colour and the pattern on it makes it look incredibly old fashioned. After using the mat its best to try and dry it as much as you can, this will help stop it going black underneath. I always hang mine over the bath edge on a towel.
The rubber the mat is made from is a bit thin and flimsy and although I don't plan on using it for long I don't think it would last too long anyway.
Overall though I would recommend the Argos value bath mat. It does its job, I cant really see it being long lasting but then it is very cheap. If you are looking for a cheap bathmat and don't care about the colour them this may well be for you.
Summary: An OK bath mat but not the best
